I spoke with a high ranking person in the AD yesterday and was told that the recently released information regarding the construction of the new Turchin Stadium was grossly inaccurate and even "dangerous." The information printed has many in the department, and Coach Jones, disturbed. They insist the information is inaccurate, distorted and injures the project, and the program.

I don't know which info you mean because rumor has been all over the place.
As far as Tulane being "disturbed" about the misinfo, cry me a river. There's one way to correct any "injuries" that are resulting from rumor mongering, MAKE AN OFFICIAL RELEASE OF THE ACTUAL STATUS OF THINGS!! I guess that's too much to ask.

I thought an official release had been issued some time back, after the water line solution. It occurs to me that issueing an official release after each and every new rumor could get rediculous.

Well, Tulane fans, especially the ones who post on these boards, do have a very bad habit of taking an unsubstantiated rumor and blowing it way out of proportion, then, blaming the Athletic Department for not giving them enough information.
Guys, this isn't rocket science. If there's a bulldozer there in June.....

I don't recall seeing an official release about the stadium. If there is one I'd love to see it. The only thing I saw in print from the University was a small blurb about it in the most recent Tulanian. In fact, I posted the blurb somewhere on this board I think.
GM is right. Until you see the bulldozers there will be no end to rumor mongering, especially when the official flow of information is non-existent.

I found what I posted. It's dated March 3. Link below. Has there been anything else official?

But if there is a very inaccurate rumor that is "dangerous" maybe a simple sentence or two on the official website would be in order. Not to specifically address the rumor, but just a simple, "Plans are moving forward to begin the renovation of Turchin Stadium after the 2005 season is completed," or something like that.
And, in fact, what would be so difficult about doing, say, weekly updates on the website? Has anyone outside of the Athletic Dept. even seen the actual plans or renderings for the stadium? Fans want to know. What's the big secret?

I agree. I think something like that would only gin up anticipation for the stadium and excitement and interest around the program in general, particularly in light of how the present season is going. They could use it as a vehicle to start getting season ticket commitments for next year and get those numbers up even higher than they already are.

Now, I know this does not satisfy the point being made about an official release, but check this thread:

I know rumors are rampant, I go on the word of Coach Rick Jones who stated this past Monday on his radio show, that the project is on and that it will be completed by next February and the start of the 2006 season.

I missed the coaches show this week. If Coach is happy, I'm happy. Thanks for the report Greenman and welcome aboard.
