Football Questions, Game #2
Just for kicks...
1) If EMU loses to Mizzou, what would you identify as moral victories that we could look for?
2) Which player has the best chance to shine in this game?
3) Over under on Sacks from our defense at 1... You taking over or under?
4) Can you share your best case scenario for this game?

RE: Football Questions, Game #2
1) I don't think EMU wins this game. However, walking away without injuries, being able to establish the run, having defensive linemen that can disrupt or end plays in the backfield, and keeping it within two touchdowns would be good.
2) I'm torn here between Kilby, Vann, and Browning. On Defense... If O'Connor wants to play at the next level he has to show that he can dominate this level of competition. So I hope he shows out.
3) I'm taking under... I hope I'm wrong though.
4) We walk away like WMU did in Evanston last week.

RE: Football Questions, Game #2
1) Keeping the game relatively competitive. Final score isn't always indicative of this. As long as they don't blow the doors off of us early, I'll be ok.
2) One of the defensive players. POC is the easy answer, but I'll say Luke Maclean. Missouri has a very experienced defense, but if Porter can keep them honest with the pass, then Shaq Vann could have some holes to work with.
3) I'm taking the over. This line looks legit and Neathery isn't afraid to blitz, unlike McCaslin.
4) Sneaking out a win in an ugly game. I think this board would explode if that were to happen.

RE: Football Questions, Game #2
1. A competitive loss would be a major moral victory (if there is such a thing). Showing the ability to hang with SEC teams in consecutive years, on top of potentially going 3-1 in non-conference, would help to bring some respectability back to the program. I don't want to get my hopes up for a win, but I do think we can keep it close. And if we keep it close for long enough, then we may just have a shot at it.
2. As Sam said, POC is the easy answer for defense... and I'm going to go with the easy answer. He's incredibly quick for his size, so I can easily seem him getting past Mizzou's tackles throughout the game. On offense, I'm going to take a guess and say Kilby. Maybe it was just seeing him against an easy opponent, but I think he's incredible tough to handle at 6'7 coming from the slot position.
3. I'll take the over on that. As others have said, Neathery's aggressiveness is a great compliment to the talent we have on the DL. Each of the starting 4 are a threat to get into the backfield on any given play.
4. Best case scenario is a 24-21 type game with a massive game from Vann.

RE: Football Questions, Game #2
1. Agree, competitive loss. Still in the game at half time or early 2nd half.
2. Agree, POC. I believe he will have one sack. Could also have an additional half sack. POC is the 2017 NFL draft version of D. Jackson.
3. I too will take the over. I'm hoping for two sacks. Do not sleep on Harris or some of the others. Harris would have gotten more acclaim Friday if the announcers weren't totally concentrating on POC.
4. Losing by 10 or less points. One has to remember EMU has never beaten a P5 team so by definition they have never done it on the road. Maybe a loss like the Northwestern game early on in English's reign.

POC getting drafted or not, will come down to his combine numbers, and All Star game practice performances, much like it did with Jackson.
Obviously Jackson hit those numbers out of the park. I'm not so sure POC is a combine numbers type guy? May have to show out really big against higher level competition at these games and practices after the season.
Him staying healthy all season is huge for this defense. We have a lot more depth, but he kind of makes the whole thing go. QB pressure really is the key to any defense in this day and age.

1. Competitive game we lose by less than 14.
2. A. Porter at WR, now also being used in jet sweeps.
3. Over on the sacks.
4. A win.

1) If EMU loses to Mizzou, what would you identify as moral victories that we could look for?
If Mizzou didn't take the lead until late (5-7 minutes left in the 4th quarter), that'd be cool. I'm also going to see if we can have 6 receivers w/ multi-catch performances.
2) Which player has the best chance to shine in this game?
Ian Eriksen on offense. DaQuan Pace on defense.
3) Over under on Sacks from our defense at 1... You taking over or under?
O/U is at 1? I'm taking the over.
4) Can you share your best case scenario for this game?
Besides a W, if we can out-rush Mizzou, I'd be absolutely thrilled. Would love to prove legitimacy in our run defense early on.

A: That the game was competitive and nobody quit.
2) Which player has the best chance to shine in this game?
A: Pat O'Connor!!!
3) Over under on Sacks from our defense at 1... You taking over or under?
A: Over all the way.
4) Can you share your best case scenario for this game?
A: Eastern wins, which would absolutely make this program and would probably catapult Creighton to "Ben Braun" status.
Just win baby.

1) If EMU loses to Mizzou, what would you identify as moral victories that we could look for?
Close game, clean game, good stats
2) Which player has the best chance to shine in this game?
POC of course. Shaq V. assuming our O-Line can create holes
3) Over under on Sacks from our defense at 1... You taking over or under?
Over
4) Can you share your best case scenario for this game?
Realistically - close game that gives program more credibility. A win would be ideal, but probably not in the cards.

1. A clean game where the team plays disciplined, leading in the game with chances to win, and holding our own controlling the line of scrimmage.
2. POC and the d-line; Shaq.
3.Over
4.Winning a close game and creating a buzz on campus

So our DL isn't as good as it looked vs. MVSU but not as bad as it looked last night.
I still like our 3 DEs, POC, Harris, and Crosby.

Our DL is fine, obviously much improved. The over/under 1 sack line, was a trap we all fell into. The reason you get no sacks, and little pressure, against an offense like that, is because the QB rarely holds the ball for more than 2 seconds. It had nothing to do with POC suddenly getting worse, or their OT's being NFL caliber. It's the hurry up, quick screen, throw the bomb, Baylor offense. Maybe we could have tried a LB blitz or two, but corner and safety blitzes are nearly impossible with 5 and 6 WR/RB's out in routes every play.
Good news, it's the last time we see that type of offense this year, especially with SEC athletes.

Good points.
At the time I posted, I didn't know what type of offense we'd be facing (didn't bother to watch any of the Mizzou/WVU game).
Without that knowledge, it is easy to make foolish predictions... (I took the over).
