Can't wait for NCSU to come to town. If you want to see a a frenzied college football environment turn on ESPNU Saturday at high noon (Eastern time). People outside of NC have no idea how big the rivalry is between the Pack & the Pirates. They may actually want this one as badly as any on their schedule this year. Perhaps the best hidden gem of a southern football rivalry there is. My girlfriend is with her family out of town this weekend so i've got a buch of buddy's from out of town coming to town and we're gonna do it up big win, lose or draw but it will be a lot better if we can become the 1st ever 'non-power/BCS' program to beat a single P5 conference 6x in a row including 3 consecutive against the Pack.

Nelson had 400 yards passing, 5 TDs and a rushing TD to boot in about 2 1/2 quarters. I give Coach Mo and Nelson a lot of credit but I also like the game called by OC Peterson.

The rivalry was apparently already pretty hard core in '83 as you can see the Pirate faithful tying up and burning that state fan in a pregame Pirate ritual before the game. A little over the top IMO but really illustrates how much hate there is and has been over the years.

If we can run the ball effectively, he will have time to throw. That was our problem(and why I dislike the AirRaid) in general. It makes you too one dimensional and predictable. You are not going to have a Carden/Hardy combination every season. I really like this offense that Peterson has installed. It puts the ball in the hands of the playmakers and keeps the defense guessing. Skip said Peterson was the best play caller that he had ever coached with. From what I saw Sat? I know why he said that. I only saw a couple of missed calls...and he ditched what was not working.

We're ECU. Of course we're a lil delusional but that's why you gotta love us. That said, my biased mind says we shock some folks this year. Besides this thread was really supposed to be about informing those that don't know much about the ECU/NCSU rivalry how intense it gets. Just tune in this weekend if you don't have anything better to do. It'll be sure to entertain one way or another.

Rivalry turned ugly in 1987. ECU destroys NCSU's stadium and the rivalry was cancelled for 5 years till the '92 Peach Bowl forced NCSU to play ECU again. See video link below.

With Scott running and receiving like he is, Nelson should be able to have the time to deliver against NCSU. If we get our 2nd best receiver Trevon Brown back (most talented & best deep threat we have) I'll feel even better going into this game.

I don't particularly feel one way or another about the wolpfack. They hate the cheats and so do I.

I do agree that they do less with more, great facilities and what have they done on the field?

This. While I was impressed with what I saw in regard to ECU playing a clean first game(first Ive seen in over a decade) I am in no way thinking we are a juggernaut. This week will tell us what we need to know about this team. WCU was what it was supposed to be...a warmup.

I actually have a soft spot for NCSU. Without them scheduling us in CF for so many years we probably would not have the program we have now. That series undoubtably had a lot to do with the growth of our football program. I have no animosity for the Wolfpack or their fans and have plenty of Pack friends. I do not however have many Tarheel friends. Guess why?
