RE: NIU @ USF predictions
Wyoming = BC

As

USF = OSU

This team makes no sense, I'm not going to try and figure it out. Past performance dictates future performance. NIU plays up, has its chance but doesn't have enough to get the W on the road.

27-23 USF

We all feel better...which is the definition of moral victory...which still sucks.

RE: NIU @ USF predictions
I just saw this at http://blatanthomerism.com/articles/2016...uck-week-2

Northern Illinois at South Florida (-15)

I realize that it's only week two, but this looks like a case of programs heading in opposite directions. Willie Taggart has the Bulls playing like potential challengers to Houston in the AAC. NIU finished last season on a down note and picked up where it left off with a loss last week to Wyoming. Scott Roussel of FootballScoop.com mentioned on the Football Four podcast this week that here are whispers floating around about dissension in the Huskies' locker room.

For what it is worth, including the sources.[/b]

What a disaster, I blame the coaches and players equally, it takes two to tango, two to quit like this team has. Something has to be done to fix this, every day that goes on like this, NIU will be hurt in perception and recruiting. What a far cry from say the 2002-2004 teams that invested their heart and souls into the program and asked themselves "How can I help to advance this program". Today's players are so extremely selfish. Basketball needs to start ASAP. Wish I could refund my football season tickets

Between the football team quitting the season before it started, and the mass chaos that has taken over the ticket and administrative offices, it really does feel like the sky is falling right now.

I think its to the point where President Baker needs to look at what is going on. Hell who knows, maybe Frazier needs a good looking at, the thing has fallen apart under his watch too.

If the talk about the players refusing to get on the plane to San Diego if Carey was on it last year was true, what are the chances the two coordinators that were brought in are auditioning for a chance to take Carey's place at the end of the year? I have no information to support it, just wondering.

I'm guessing the only reason Carey wasn't let go after last season is it would be too expensive to cut him loose with so many years left on his deal. Otherwise, if that story is true you would really have to question Frazier's judgement for keeping Carey.

01-wingedeagle you seem to love it when the sky is falling. You make crazy statements based on your observations from watching a game on tv? Today's players are extremely selfish? How about the teams from 2010-2015 - were they extremely selfish winning all those games?

I only mention the 2002-2004 group because I specifically remember interviews and the pride they took in playing for the Huskies, and wanting to be an integral part in helping progress the PROGRAM forward. You just don't have that anymore, I realize that's a bigger than NIU problem. It really pains me to see what is going on with NIU right now, I don't care if they suck, but the fact the team does not seem to care at all really is sad to see.

I don't think you can get that from one game. Although that was a strange game, I don't think you can say the players don't care.

The evidence is piling up to be a little more than circumstantial. You have the bowl game performance, reports from people on this board who are close tot the team who say the team has quit, and now media reporting it too.

The only thing that the media (Scott Roussel of FootballScoop) mentioned on the Football Four podcast this week is that here are whispers floating around about dissension in the Huskies' locker room. That is not the same as the team has quit. Has someone here said the team has quit? I have seen DogFan and others say Carey has lost this team; I agree with that. However, I do not agree the team has quit; if anything there may be a feeling/sense that the players will not give 100% to Carey. This may seem to be splitting hairs - it is not; there is huge difference and important difference between between Carey has lost the team and the players have quit! i thought the team looked dysfunctional against Wyoming, at least at times, but I never thought/sensed that the players have quit. The bowl game; the players did not show up so they did not quit/give up. That I did and still put on completely on Carey.

I think it is splitting hairs, not giving full effort is quitting. The problem is nearly every single instance of a team quitting on a coach NEVER gets getter, it only continues to deteriorate until a personnel change is made. The team look defeated to start the game, they have quit in my opinion. Probably some players are still invested but there is some absolutely horrendous body language out there. I know this sounds wishy washy but re-watch that youtube clip of the game, and find one instance of another defensive player offering any encouragement to another defensive player after a positive play. NIU has some skill players on offense, and that side of the ball might be able to crawl along, but when I watched that defense out there, I see that unit as a unit that has waived the white flag.

If we had won the game in 3 OTs would it still appear that the team quit?

That is a good point I am not sure, I don't even want to say a few of the things that have crossed my mind after that game Saturday.
