Signature Bet
Hello Rice fans,

As you all know Rice is tangling with my Army Black Knights this Saturday. I have a proposition for you: how about a signature bet over the game?

I do have one rule.

1. If somehow Army loses, the signature cannot contain any sexual promiscuous images, any anti-Christianity or anti-religious material or racism or hate speech. Otherwise, you can give me Care bears.

You didn't say no politics. So I'm in. If Rice wins, you change your signature to read I'm With Her. If Army wins, I change mine to Make America Great Again.

Around the same time I believe the Luftwaffe had a couple of 10 win seasons but they were playing in a pretty weak conference.

Army's schedules were very strong. Check out Tiptop25 for the details.

In years that Rice beat Army (4-0) we're a combined 30-21 with 3 bowls. In years that we've tied Army, were 2-8-1. In years that we've lost to Army (0-1) we're now winless while Army remains undefeated.

My point was that, IIRC, we played and lost to Army in 1958. I'm open to be corrected on that however.

They were undefeated that year too. 8-0-1 . No losses

We were tied 7-7 late in the 4th quarter. We had trouble lining up for a short field goal and called timeout. We then had the kick blocked, and in the last minute or so Heisman Trophy Winner Pete Dawkins got loose down the middle for a long TD pass and we lost 14-7.

OK, but Owl at themoon's comment was:

"In years that we've lost to Army (0-1) we're now winless while Army remains undefeated."

I don't think we were winless in 1958. Perhaps his post was only referring to games we've played against Army in the very recent past?? I'm guessing the 0-1 refers to last weekend's game. He seemed to cover 6 games, but did not include at least the 1958 game.

I'm just trying to get clarification on what time period his post covered, and what the specific point was . . . . maybe when we beat Army our record is good (we beat them last year but were 5-7 which got factored into the 30-21)?

Other than it is not good that we lost to them this year, I'm not sure we know enough yet about how good Army is this year, or how our season plays out to put it into any context. If this year's Army team is much better than the one's we've been beating recently, the context is at least a little different than if this year's Army team finishes 2-9. Not good in any event.

We didn't agree on a set amount of time but the post right above mine said September and that's what I was assuming when I made my bet. So sorry Donald but I no longer care what you think you're going to do for America. My signature is no longer up for grabs. And you got it off easy compared to me.

And you did in terms of the loss and signature.

Thanks for being a great sport! 04-cheers
