And, his contract is renegotiated in good faith to AT LEAST the average of the top 5 coaches in said conference.

We have a billionaire BOR chairman that is serious about contending. I don't think it's inaccurate to say (and I don't mean to spend other people's money), but Herman's salary at UH is essentially a blank check at this point. Fertitta has actually said before that if we do lose him, it won't be because of money.

Houston understands what it takes to get to a P5 league....from the way you put it and I mean this in respect you guys are doing the exact same thing Louisville did earlier this century...wish you the best until 19 November @ your house...04-cheers

Interesting thing is that Miami interviewed Herman in 2013 after our last coach got canned, and it would've been a decent fit since he's a Cincy native, was in Ohio at the time, and his stock hasn't high enough yet that he wasn't unrealistically out of reach for a solid MAC program at the time. Problem was that we were 0-12 and the cupboard was empty after Don Treadwell, so he got the hell out of the hiring process once he realized we had nothing and he was in a perfect position to get a good job out of OSU if he was patient. Even a coach like him wouldn't have won much the past two seasons with the trainwreck he would've inherited.
