Why? If the money is right, there is nothing to hold him if the right job opens up.

It would be a much tougher decision...he has a great thing going at Houston...they make the playoffs and get into the Big XII he becomes Houston version of Gary Patterson-(TCU)...he would be able to recruit against anyone in that league.

Texas or LSU is going to want to have him in December. He won't leave with the team going to the playoff.

But the ceiling for the Big 12 is uncertain unless you are UT or UO. I do not see that holding him back for a team like LSU or UT, with the kind of money that is being thrown around at this time. Things can turn around quickly.

UT or LSU will not ask him to leave if he says he would like to finish the season if they want him bad enough.

Houston will match the money though. You better believe their boosters will pony up big time.

Well...right now Coach Strong seat might be getting a little cooler...if he found his QB and this score holds up they could be a major factor in the Big XII.

Houston can't match the likes of Texas or LSU financially.

Not for one millisecond. It's actually quite a ridiculous proposition.

Not really. It's not the athletic department that would have to come up with all that money. It'd be the boosters. And I'd be fairly sure to bet there are some pretty rich boosters from Houston. It's not like Texas or LSU would be paying him 100 million dollars or something crazy like that.

Well, I guess all those boosters graduated in the last year. They sure haven't been around before.

The point is UofH has not become one of the wealthiest programs in the nation in the last two years. That's ridiculous. And, even when it comes to boosters they have never been able to pour the kind of financial resources you're talking about out before, and there is no reason to believe that has changed.

I get that there is a lot of bandwagon type thinking with UofH's recent success but let's not dive into the ridiculous head first.

They haven't had a reason to pour the money you are talking about. With Harmon, a top 10 team, and the Big 12 spot- that would be the time to do just that.

Also- it's not like the top guys get all that much even right now. I mean, Saban makes only 7.7 million dollars. Miles makes 5 million. Harmon already makes 3 million per year.

I have to say that is a bit patronizing.

UofH has had greater sustained success in their past. They've been a member of a major conference. Bill Yeoman would take a swing at folks for saying less.

This isn't wholly new to that school like it would be to some others.

BTW, 5 million is a lot more money per year than 3.

Reprieve! At least for now. I actually am happy for him.
