Quote:Playoff teams after Week 1

2. Houston: You can second-guess this selection all you want, but perhaps no team outside of Alabama accomplished more than Houston on the opening Saturday. And, besides the Crimson Tide, who else has defeated top-10 teams in consecutive games?

I think that's great. I'm happy for Houston, and happy for the conference.

RE: Houston Media Containment Thread
Given the media storm the OU win has created, rather than start a new thread for every interview, article, video, etc., and for the sake of not spamming the board, I'm just renaming this thread the "media containment thread". Feel free to post all that content here.

Herman post-game interview with ESPN. I like how he uses that "The AAC has separated itself" line every chance he gets.

Quote:Doug Kezirian, Brad Edwards and Trevor Matich speak with Houston head coach Tom Herman about the Cougars' 33-23 upset victory over No.3 Oklahoma.

If Houston wins out, it would be hard to argue for them to not be included in the Playoff...

But Im sure the playoff committee will figure out a way...

Garrett Davis' hit on Perine. Perine is 240, to stop a guy of that size in that manner is scary.

No way Houston is kept out of the playoffs if Houston wins out, Tv networks love Houston.

It's going to come down to how well Houston's opponents do in their other games.

Oklahoma winning the Big 12 would be huge. Texas winning the Big 12 and beating Oklahoma worse than UH did would be crippling.

Louisville needs to be an ACC title contender as well.

ECU will do our best to give you a 12-0 opponent in the AAC title game, lol.

It's just so early and there are so many variables. Good luck, Coogs.

Oklahoma plays Ohio state. This will either help or hurt Houston.

We're having our backups and some third stringers play this game.

It would certainly help UH if OU wins their division (or conf tile) in Big 12...and Louisville wins their division (or conf title) in the ACC.

However, if OU loses 3-4 more games...and if UL implodes...that will hurt UH's case.

It's less about what UH is gonna do and more about what rest of AAC does. Frankly, the AAC had a banner year last year with five teams in the top 25 at some point. That's not gonna happen this year. Unfortunately for UH, they are miles better than anyone else in the conference, so unless Navy/UC/USF is ranked when UH plays them or is ranked at the end of the season, it won't matter what UH does.

This. The talking heads on sports talk radio, national as well as local, have already started playing the strength of schedule card. Including two on ESPN saying that even if Houston runs the table, they shouldn't be in over a 1 loss SEC/ACC/B1G.

Houston is a great team but to say they're miles ahead of the rest of the conference is kind of slick shady. Memphis had that same hype after the Ole Miss game but I was always mindful of Houston and Temple and Navy. I think our pre conference p5 games are the most important part of all of our schedules this year in order to propel Houston to the playoffs. I have a feeling that the AAC will get more p5 scalps this season ,which should garner us more ranked teams again.

Yeah, ESPN'S talking heads are already showing selective amnesia about our conference strength of just a year ago. If enough of our teams can win the "big games" this season and get ranked this could turn out to be the most transformative and important season for the AAC ever. I look at Houston as the tip of the spear in our efforts to improve our overall perception
