I have an interesting CFP projection...I predict it's too damn early for this stuff.

No bowls or projections until after week 4 should be the rule.

RE: Extremely Interesting CFP Projection from CBS....Houston...
Way too early. That said, it's good to see overwhelming support from the vast majority of sports writers and commentators that a theoretical G5 that wins a couple of key games against top P5s and goes undefeated should be in the playoff. That sentiment didn't exist just a couple of years ago when the new CFP was created. I believe the BCS UCF win vs Baylor in 2013, and the Boise/Houston access bowl wins in 2014/2015 have changed the perception of sports writers and the general public.

I think it is now just a matter of time before CFP expansion creates some sort of guaranteed access to the playoff for the top G5 school. That will be a game changer when it happens. It will forever change recruiting when a kid can reach the playoff from any FBS campus in the nation.

I have said it before, but I really can't see any team from the American going to the CFP... Even if they run the board, Houston will cap out at #5 coming out of this conference.

And, I can't really fault it. This conference is not equal to the "Power" conferences in terms of competition. When at least one Power conference champ is going to get left out of the CFP, I honestly can't make the argument that a team that comes out of playing in a conference that routinely has 3 of the worst ten FBS teams in it should be in the CFP.

Eh, if UH wins out, I could see them beating out a mediocre Pac 12 or Big 12 champion with 1 or 2 losses. But a lot depends on how good the rest of their schedule ends up being. They will need Navy, Louisville and their AAC championship game opponent to all be ranked

I think that's a dated mindset. That said, I think the window is very narrow for non-P5 inclusion and there is no margin of error. Also, the schedule must be set up correctly. You need at least two wins over solid P5 schools and you have to be undefeated. Even then, if there are 4 undefeated P5 champs--you're probably out.

Houston looked really good yesterday. Don't know if ou was overrated like maybe Tennessee or lsu was. But Houston should pray that if they run the table and make the playoff (long season), that they don't have to play bama

Maybe expand by two and have 4/5 and 3/6 matchups a week or two after the CCGs with the highest G5 getting an auto bid. Or just include the auto bid and have a playin game.

We'll find out in the next few weeks, when they play tOSU, TCU, and Texas.

OU's offense is no joke. Perine, Mixon, and Andrews are all early to mid round draft picks. I'm not sure how Mayfield projects to the NFL given his size, but we've seen how good he is in college. Perhaps Westbrook, as well.

Our D just took it to them.

If Oklahoma beats Ohio State it's wide open from there.

Pretty cool CBS has one of AAC's big boys already penciled for this year's CFP but waaaaaay to early for this.

I suspected that last year was unusual. Did O'Leary stop preparing the team for games?

Houston looked great! It is fair to say that Houston still has a season ahead, it is nice to be noticed.

We should note that Houston doesn't play Southern Miss. As most remember from our C-USA days, many teams entered the Southern Miss game undefeated and found a loss. I am thinking about TCU's run. I am sure there were others. 04-cheers

That would be cool for UH. Unfortunately...I could see Bama running the table this year. I never thought I would ever see USC get destroyed that bad. Bama must be loaded even more than ever this year.

Houston looked like an NFL team compared to the rest of the AAC. If a G5 team is ever going to make a statement for playoff inclusion it's this year and this team

Could be. Im always wary of how any team performs in its opener. The Sept 15 UC matchup will confirm what you are talking about. Nippert is now a tough place to play. They destroy UC? They could run the table.

Never thought that it would ever come to this in the AAC....... but......... what happens if Houston is in the CFP and our #2 team is ranked the next highest G5? Does our #2 get to go to the access bowl?

I would think yes, as long as "our" #2 was ranked higher than any other G5 #1
