RE: Game Week: Missouri
Based on the MAC teleconference with CC, he did not say who would start this week at QB. He said they would not be announcing that but then went on to say that make no doubt Roback will play this year. Probably trying to not tip their hand to Missouri one way or the other. I can dig that.

Obsessed with EMU, that's hilarious. I don't think those two words should ever be in the same sentence.

Two words?

Context, clearly meant obsessed and EMU.

Anyway, there are no hard feelings toward EMU. My buddy played Center for you guys and trust me, no matter how good CMU is/was, EMU was a game that is typically competitive for whatever reason.

Yes, EMU has had nothing to celebrate over in recent memory. I wasn't trying to eliminate that, I was just saying I don't think a blowout win over possibly the worst FCS team is worth translating a view that you may beat Mizzou. To be honest, only a couple MAC teams can beat Mizzou while having their best day. EMU should have a good game with Charlotte and maybe Wyoming got lucky against NIU. But it appears Wyoming could be good this year.

I dog EMU because I think they should drop to FCS due to the lack of fanbase and lack of success. That doesn't mean I think they will lose every game. And it doesn't mean my opinion is wrong or I am obsessed with EMU. Hell, they beat CMU in 2011 and I was at the game in 2008. It's just my opinion on things, you should take to the main board or chippewasinsider if you think what I say is bad. Check what others say.

Good day.
Like I said before, we are not optimistic against Mizzou because of how we played last Friday. We are optimistic because we know our team is better than previous years. Get it through your head.

And to say EMU should be FCS because of attendance is stupid. If we belong in FCS then so does CMU and the rest of the MAC. We are all second class to the big boys. Just deal with it and stop pretending that you are something different. And for the record, CMU only outdid EMU be a 2k people last week and CMU did not have to compete with HS football and a holiday weekend. Note that GV had almost as many at their game on Thursday. Looks like you barely outdrew the D2 school. Congrats.

No thanks, I won't be checking those out because I'm not obsessed with CMU.

However, I will be supporting CMU when they come here to play Oklahoma State on Saturday, because I support all of our MAC brethren in non-conference play. Even Central and Western.

EXACTLY. Every single MAC team is one coach away from really good, or crap.

WMU 1-11 when Fleck arrived, now MAC favorites. I say with confidence, if Fleck had taken the EMU job, we would also be competing for the MAC Championship at this point.

Not worried about anything (especially surfing other MAC boards), but our team taking another positive step forward this week against Mizzou.

No, this is a new genius, started first game, won't be playing this week. I won't say, so nobody bother asking (don't want to upset board members who are sensitive to these things). Just watch who takes the field, and you can figure it out as a process of elimination, based on last week.

Mizzou knows exactly who's starting at QB this week. Either way, they've got film on both, and likely not too worried about either.

Not being a jerk, just saying neither has shown anything that would put fear in an SEC defense. Hopefully he has the game of his life, and makes them pay for underestimating.

I'm the least of your worries...
I offered my cautions in an attempt to help.
Most coaches don't take kindly to parents of players leaking information they get from their student to the internet. There are often consequences for such things and sometimes the player is the one who feels it the most.
Moving forward, please don't worry about offending me. I've stated my peace. Post as you will.

You are absolutely correct, and I understand where you're coming from.

I've never had any intention of putting player's names out there prior to a school announcement, or it becoming public knowledge in some other fashion, as it relates to injuries, suspensions, discipline, etc.

I'm certainly not here to undermine the staff. Just have good football conversations and debates about a team that the vast majority on this board would like to see succeed.

Hope we're on the same page.

EMU looks improved, but it was the bottom feeding SWAC team for gods sake. You guys should be focused on beating a team like Charlotte rather than Mizzou and Wyoming who just beat the reigning MACW champ. Same goes for CMU, I'm going to put any stock into playing a poor FCS team. Hell Akron hung 60+ on some FCS team a few years back and went 1-11 that year. It doesn't really mean anything unless you are playing top FCS teams.

Why do you care? We are happy that we took care of business against an obviously inferior opponent. Must be a slow day on the CMU board.

I'd like to get a little discussion going of our DL:

As I expected, I was impressed by their play Friday night.

I expected big things from POC and he delivered.

I thought Harris played much better than those doing PxP and color gave him credit.
I saw some good things out of Maxx Crosby. Potential star in the future? A redshirt frosh?
Figueroa started fast last season but seems to have faded. Didn't play that much Friday night?
MacLean and Brown? Assessment of their play Friday night?

I thought the starting unit of Harris, Brown, MacLean and POC did very well as a UNIT. Crosby the redshirt frosh had a stupid penalty but definitely has some potential. Not sure about Figureroa I think he has potential but overshadowed by Granger and Dawson the two JUCOs for right now along with Dunlop. Not sure Granger and Dawson at ahem are in mid season form but I'm sure they'll get there. This is the first time in many years where I think by conference play we'll have a solid two deep on the DL and be able to rotate with all cylinders running. I really like Justice Williams who is redshirting this year at DE, just needs to add some more weight and muscle. Not sure about Andrews who didn't play. and Holford who was a LB but may be switching to the DL. Oops I forgot about Hendricks the former OL at about 6'5, 310. Looks of different options. Lion King also played. I hope Coach B sticks around to coach these guys again next year but....

Don't worry if we lose to Missouri I'm sure we'll hear from Bob. No comment from him about being picked by the top MAC West team in men's hoops. Why would he comment on something positive about EMU?

Haha wow you must be insecure. So we will take this one game of attendance? How about we look at attendance for the last few years? How about EMU drawing maybe 4,000 last season? When is the last team EMU legitimately drew 15,000? Yes, please find the box score where there were 4,000 there and they reported 20,000. Just take a look at CMU's game and EMU's game and tell me the attendance was close. It's almost like you're in denial the numbers are heavily skewed. You guys are a disgrace to the MAC and FBS. Your prime season is going 6-6 with 2 FCS teams. Make a bowl game or do something for Christ's sake. And CMU didn't have to deal with a holiday weekend? Plenty of students leave Thursday.

Way to take the entire MAC and say we should drop to FCS because EMU is a disgrace of a program. You guys were drawing like 2,000 fans per game except in 2014 when all those numbers were fudged to 15-20K which everyone knows was a joke. I was at a lot of those games for crying out loud. You and your fellow alum are acting like this is some big conspiracy. Newsflash, sure every team goes by tickets sold. But there is something to be said when literally, EVERYONE, notices how there are a couple thousand in the stands and you guys are reporting numbers higher than plenty of MAC teams.

Have fun celebrating nothing for the rest of your college football life. "We are all second class to the big boys". Yeah you're right, just drop everyone then. What a terrible argument. Education is paying off. I can tell you're an EMU alum.

While CMU is getting frustrated going 7-6, EMU is fudging attendance numbers and clamoring over a win over an FCS team. Status quo. Even Miami and Akron are making strides.

Celebrate your 1-3 win seasons. Maybe EMU beats CMU this year and you guys can act like you won the Super Bowl. You probably consider like 3 teams to be rivals and nobody really cares at all.

Figueroa started fast last season but seems to have faded. Didn't play that much Friday night?
MacLean and Brown? Assessment of their play Friday night?

The 2 deep all played, and played well, based on their 1st half domination. We'll find out a lot more this week against much better competition.

POC, Harris and Crosby are in a constant rotation every 3 or 4 plays, so keep them all healthy and we're in really good shape there.

Brown put on some good weight so he can now hold his own at the point of attack. The undisputed starter and ready to have a good Senior year.

Dawson and Granger are obviously huge guys that should get better as the season progresses as they round into better shape. Hearing they are both making progress getting rid of the bad weight, which is a great sign. Dawson listed as a Senior on the roster, so I guess he's done after this year. Granger listed as a Junior, so it'll be nice to have him back to anchor the interior of the DLine next year.

MacLean the perfect 3 technique with his quickness, and added weight.

Figueroa a tough one to figure out. May have played last year more out of necessity, than a really good freshman talent. On the small side, so his future may be determined by the weight room, and just how bad he really wants to compete. On the flip side you have Dunlap, who got much bigger and may have been one of the most improved players in camp. Still undersized a bit (at 6'), but showing that he really wants to play.

Hendricks a big strong guy fighting for reps, good rotational guy inside. Holford has been moved from LB to DE, so a learning curve is in store. Up to 251 lbs so the speed just isn't there at LB, but may now be perfect at DE, yet to be determined.

May have spotted the freshman Smith inside in the 2nd half. Looked like a freshman playing tentative, and a little high. Lion King played 2nd half, but didn't hear much from him, backup whose future will be determined in weight room. Williams redshirting, total unknown at this point, also needs to add 20-30 lbs prior to next year.

Losing POC, Brown, Dawson, and MacLean next year, so hopefully we have the luxury of getting a lot of the 2nd and 3rd guys reps in preparation for next year. If Dawson and Granger play well all year, wouldn't be surprised to see us add more Juco guys on the DL again next year.

Congrats.

George calling anyone insecure..........pot meet kettle.

You still here, worried about losing to poor ole' EMU? ("maybe EMU beats CMU this year")

Refresh

Yet here you are again, writing a dissertation on a board of a team you don't care at all about.
