Forbes doesn't think BIG 12 will expand at all
http://www.forbes.com/sites/kristidosh/2...9089c24e9f
Brett McMurphy says sources are telling him the Big 12 “is more interested in teams that can strengthen and add value to the league as opposed to schools that need to be ‘propped up’ by the league.”
"Memphis sits just below the average of the remaining institutions at $43.4 million in revenue. However, it would have ranked last among the group in institutional subsidy at $18.2 million.
In other words, Memphis needs to be “propped up” the least of any of the public schools the Big 12 is considering."
"Well, if that’s the standard, I don’t think the Big 12 will be expanding at all."

Challenge is...no one knows what ALL the standards (attributes) that the Big 12 will take into consideration...as there are most likely dozens of them.
And yes, NOT expanding is certainly a possibility...but odds are, Big 12 will add at least 2 teams.

Yeah, I hear that. I just don't buy this top 11 list nonsense. There are three teams on that list with an actual chance. BYU, UH, Cincinnatti. That's your list. The rest are just being played and they probably know it. Hell, knowing our president and AD, they may have known that they weren't in the final 2 or 3 and refused to continue participating in the dog and pony show. I could believe that. What I refuse to believe is that we were not I. The top 11. That's nonsense.

Since the Big 12 is HQ in TX...and their are 4 TX teams in the conf...I'm not that surprised that SMU and Rice are still on the list...as in "no harm, no foul" to "pretend" to show that there was serious consideration for these TX schools...so that the Big 12 can say "they tried" to review any and all TX schools as potential candidates.
No one knows what, if anything, will happen.

Every school making $2 million or less a year in media payments needs to be propped up. Hell, 3/4 of the 'P5' would need to be propped up if they were not in the privileged category.
