The case for UAlbany
1. One of the great nicknames of college sports ("Great Danes")

2. Flagship university in a decent-sized market.

3. Just beat Buffalo.

I think UAlbany could be a decent add if we lose somebody in the east.

Nice stadium, but in all seriousness they'd need to triple the size.

They built the most expensive part of the stadium already with the stadium tower.

I didn't think Albany looked great tonight just that Buffalo looked inept.

Toledo looked tonight ready for the AAC so maybe Albany can replace them.

My only editorial comment would be to add an (*) after flagship.

SUNY has a lot of flagship universities.

I've said an NIU&Toledo package would be great. If cinci and uconn leave, that starts a nice little midwestern flag right there. And then those little brother rockets can finally acknowledge our rivalry!

Or wait, i guess they need to win once in a while for that to be a rivalry 03-wink

Eh, I've had my expectations for this year severely lowered... we NIU fans are in no position to talk

SUNY has a lot of flagship universities.

SUNY has 4 university centers (flagships). Of the 4 only 3 sponsor football. Buffalo, Albany and Stony Brook.

SUNY is the largest university system in the country. Larger than Cal State or any state system.

RE: The case for UAlbany
As I've stated before Albany has the most SUNY NCAA appearances in men's basketball. Buffalo has 1 while Albany has 7.

Same story for women's basketball. 4 back-to-back for Albany

Albany has had 2 back-to-back tewaaraton award winners... aka Heisman award for college lacrosse

Add to that a new stadium, a $10M donation last year, a top 10 field hockey team, one of the best track teams in the country... represented at the Olympics

The case for Albany and maybe Stony Brook is to dominate at football in the CAA.
