This. If Tulane had shown a pulse in football in the past 15 years they'd be a top candidate.

With the way that the B12 is expanding it could be Tulane and Rice.

knowing our luck its Rice & SMU/Houston...rekindlking the old Southwest Conference

Rice and SMU being including is devastating for UH. Now, Rice and SMU can engage their legislative allies, culling the support for UH and ultimately providing political cover for no Texas teams to be admitted. Memphis being eliminated, and SMU/Rice being academically excellent, creates yet another basis to exclude UH. If I were them, I'd be very nervous right now.

I see your thought process on this but think that's a bit of a long shot. I just don't think Texas politics will play into this as much as some.

SMU, Rice and Tulane for that matter also have a lot of cash.

Seeing SMU, Rice and Tulane still on the list kind of indicates that Cincinnati and Houston are not sure things. This might come down to academics and athletics, which might help UConn and BYU a lot.

I'm ready to flame. The Memphis clowns, lead by Triple A, have been prancing around this site dumping on every other school while proclaiming their inclusion in the B12 based on 'real insiders'. I, for one, couldn't be happier that UM is out so early. And no, I don't feel that way about any of the other schools that got cut - just UM.
Flame on. Connecticut football will still suck. Lol

Nah I'm pretty sure one or two of UH, Cincy, UCONN is a sure bet. The fact that the nerdy rich schools are still there just shows that academics give some pause to these decisions but sports are leading this train.

Uhhhh no.... thats not how it works. UH has far more political power than those two and the fact is our politics is only going to support the school that helps the state the most which is UH.

Not one uh fan is worried about it as there is no chance of them getting in or even hurting uh's chances. At the end of the day you have to have good football not just academics so rice poses no threat whatsoever.

So Memphis didn't offer to play without revenue and FedEx didn't offer to sponsor the championship game if Memphis got in? No other candidate did this, so what's the deal?

uh the last set of schools (TCU and WVU) both took that kind of deal. So we offered the same deal. Not buying your way in...just a way of sweetening the pot. If you think we are the only team to offer that....you're a mental midget.

i just don't see Rice getting in over Houston. Totally redundant markets. THe Big 12 could use more games coming through Dallas and Houston since they are the number 4 and number 7 TV markets in the country. Its not just the school - its where all the other schools will be playing those schools.

If they want to add a team that is academic to feel good - then they will add one that adds the best market and brings more corporate sponsors.

I like SMU's chances if there are 4 added. If two it will just be UH and Cinn - proving that academics are just for window dressing in this deal.

The networks will pay them to not add in my opinion, since that would be cheaper for the network. Each team gets more dough and they stay the same. That is my prediction.

Fed Ex is in the sports market. They've got a few entities that bear their name...Fed Ex Forum, Washington Redskins home stadium etc.
They stood to make money on such an investment. They weren't doing it out of the kindness of their hearts.

I would think Tulane would be more attractive than rice. Offering up Louisiana and better facilities (albeit not by much). If they go four, maybe BYU UH UConn Tulane? If UCONN can stomach no travel partner or scratch one of UConn Tulane for cinci
