But I think they went to Saturday nights now.

By the way I listened to the interview. Dude does not come across all that well on the radio. Hope he is right though.

I knew that, I just had a brain fade.

So I started listening to Cap'n Pete on his Friday night WEVL block around 2010 or so, most every week. I haven't tuned in for some time, but I'm sure I will again.

Anyway, one Saturday morning I was thinking about something he said the night before and I googled his name. This was the first link from that search - a NYT article (read it, it's good) from Aug 2008 chronicling his career after he shot to death the month before by his own grandson. I was so taken back.

He had been dead for five years now, and here I was enjoying his programs for the past three years without any knowledge whatsoever. If you've ever listened to him between songs, he spends most of his airtime rambling (as only he can do) through his encyclopedic and personal knowledge of any stringer to ever play the blues. He doesn't really comment on anything topical, just the time. After his death, WEVL kept that block open by replaying old shows of his from that week in the year.

Sensitive much? I don't want a show but I'm tired of hearing about cops being bad guys daily on a sports show and I'll voice my displeasure by changing the channel
