LB Eric Wilson - 15 tackles and 2 sacks
S Zach Edwards - 12 tackles

Both of these guys were active and making plays on the field. I was a fan of both coming into this year and I like what I saw last night. Good trajectory for the rest of the season from these two.

Completely agree! 04-cheers

RE: What were the positives from UTM game?
Positives:

Zach Edwards.
Eric Wislon.
Receivers when they actually caught the ball seemed to do pretty well.
O-Line not very talented, but looked good on a few runs.
Geraci looked alright.
Boone looked good. Tion looked alright, sans the fumble.

Looking ahead: if we play like we did at the end of the game, it will be enough to beat Purdue. That should be the first thing TT focuses on this week. After that, we'll need some serious adjustments to beat Houston. But if we could somehow pull that off, we'll completely forget this game. The season is a long one. I'm not optimistic, but I'm also not ready to book It in just yet. Let's see how we look after Purdue.

First one of the major focuses in the off season was to be turnovers, yet we turned it over 3 times to an FCS team. Second CTT was quoted that we are a ball control offense, yet the FCS team held a 14 minute edge in time of possession. Third, the D is supposed to be vastly improved, yet we gave up 177 yards rushing to an FCS team. 4th, we allowed 9 out of 16 third down conversions to an FCS team, which going off of last years FBS stats would rank dead last in the country. Love my Bearcats, but this is ridiculous.

After the Memphis game Moore was a walking turnover machine last year and looks like we may get more of the same. He floats too many balls, made a bunch of bad decisions and doesn't have very good pocket awareness. If he remains QB I think it could be a long year, though I hope I am wrong.

Agree. Once defenses had video on him, he seemed to fall apart. He still locks onto his 1st guy too much and rarely checks down. If he keeps throwing into so much traffic and high, he is going to get these WRs hurt. A lot of the early drops were tied to taking some pretty big pops from the defense. On occasion to make a big play that we need is one thing, but to constantly force the receivers to take a hit is asking for trouble,

I did like that we made adjustments at half time. The defense showed flashes, but I hope that they start opening it up and doing lots more stuff and hopefully that helps. I still expect the defense to be a positive this season.

Loved how hard Green ran, outside of the few times he went out wide. But he was a beast between the tackles. Boone was Boone and I'm not worried about special teams. They showed more discipline (Didn't all leave their lanes when the ball was dropped by the returned) and Gantz should be back soon I would think.

Disappointed in the opener, but there was a lot of change and hopefully some kinks will get fixed quickly.

Moore does not appear comfortable sitting in the pocket. It's like he expects something bad to happen if he is not rolling out.

RE: What were the positives from UTM game?
He's thinking to much. He's just go to play and throw the ball which he did in the second half. If guys aren't open throw it away. You have to remember he's only got a year under his belt. It takes some time to develop the confidence. You see the same problem all over with young guys. Guys that are good runners can make things happen with their feet. Pocket passers, not so much. I think that's one of the things Trail adds is he's the best runner of the 3. We'll see. Takes time. They also looked better in the second half when all the first team offensive linemen were in there. If we can stay healthy, i would reserve judgement until they played 4 or 5 games. I think we knew going in this wasn't an experience juggernaut on offense, but i'm not ready to throw away the book on them. They have some tools.

RE: What were the positives from UTM game?
You know what would be really great? Maybe using a guy who is in his 4th year in the program as a 5th year senior who was named to the Maxwell Award watch list in July rather than using a young guy we need to help develop confidence.

I keep hearing how Moore makes good decisions and protects the ball but I don't see it in most of his games.

Moore turned it over twice yesterday. Going off last year plus yesterday he is a turnover machine.

UC wants to be in the Big12 and has 28K show up for its opening game. Quite disappointing.

You're welcome.

First time in decades we have passed on tickets. I have been to 10 bowl games and 4 or 5 dozen road games. I've earned the right to decide what is worth my time and my disposable entertainment dollars. Right now, this is neither.

I'll pick my 2 games to go to and save a couple house payments on the year.

Beer is way damn better in my seats and it's a hell of lot cheaper. No lines for the bathroom either.

I see some changes, I'll be back post haste.

Other than the beer thing I have to agree with him. I have been to so many homes since 1976 and 27 (I think) road games over the years.

I know football. I love good to great football, fortunately for UC fans we got to see what it was like up close and personal. This is not it.

Hopefully I'll be back and better yet hopefully before my Dad dies. I feel great Bearcat Football will not return while grandpa is roaming the sidelines.

I hope I am wrong. Rarely I am.07-coffee3

I guess something happened judging by all of the cryptic message BS that the folks who pay info keep posting, but honestly I don't give a rats ass what he did last year. He should either be the starting QB or he should not be on the team. Seems pretty simple.
