ECU has a strong case to be invited to the Big12. No Big12 school has a pirate mascot, so from a diversity standpoint they may get in. To add to that, we're talking about a purple pirate, and if they can get their pirate to look more like this:
It could help bolster the diversity case even more. EST zone helps too.

Word on the street is that this guy (below) is retiring.
In the name of diversity here are the remaining candidates to become the new Pirate to lead us on to the field to Purple Haze.
I think we should go with this guy in the video below personally and I like his message to the BIG 12 and all the 'power' schools in general who continue to defy ECU and spurn our desire to raid your gold (in the road warrior it was technically black gold but you get the point).

A pirate!! Really a pirate!! Now schools should be admitted on the basis of the mascot!! You are trolling making the case for different schools; I wish you would just lock yourself up in a case!!

ECU is like Lord Humungus in a way because he wants into your combine. Really he doesn't want to join your club he just wants the resources you covet and protect. I guess Mel Gibson AKA 'Mad Max' is ESPN protecting those within the compound but really he's a loner that's just truly out for himself.
Hopefully, ECU will not meet the same fate as Lord Humungus but if things don't work out right in the coming years it could come to fruition.
Skip to 1:55 in this clip to see what I'm talking about.
I guess the little boy on the hood of the big rig that Mad Max (ESPN) is driving is UNC (the pesky little cry baby that gets propped up and gets a free ride and just annoys the f*** out of you because he never has to face repercussions for his transgressions. The motorcycle guy 'Wez' riding on the grill that gets smashed by the head on collision is...I don't know... Southern Miss?
But seriously ECU is maybe destined to always be that outsider/outcast on the cusp that always has a chip on their shoulder. It actually makes being an ECU fan fun. Every bit of success we have to fight that much harder for and it makes us appreciate it that much more. Yes, we have delusional dreams of grandeur more than most but you have to dream to achieve. We just want to compete and win at the highest level and our fans, community and administration will continue to steadfastly continue on that mission regardless what those outside of our region think about us.
ECU is a Tier 1 University that truly serves our region and the region as a whole is rapidly growing. ECU is growing (expected to pass 30k next year) and will likely soon be the largest university in a large and growing state. I do believe that ECU will get the attention and resources it deserves. And I'm just enjoying the ride as we sail through uncertain and uncharted seas.
