Petrino is an ass. I wouldn't envy that dude for any reason.

Way to pull out the W, whatever the circumstances, Vandals. I imagine your offense will click a bit more in the games to come.

Thanks. I take it as progress that the fanbase and players are disappointed even though we won. Linehan knows he was terrible and I'm sure he'll put in the work to fix it. The other 21 positions were just fine, which is very encouraging. And we're 1-0 for the first time since 2009. So it's a good morning.

No idea. He just sucked. Happy feet all night and tons of underthrows into guys' feet. On his one INT his receiver beat the D by 2 steps into the end zone but Linehan underthrew it into the DB's arms.

The line protected well. MSU got to him a couple times but zero sacks all night and most of the throws were unhurried misses. I'd blame the ankle problem but he ran really well. In the 4th quarter we were afraid to even call pass plays, which is highly uncharacteristic of Petrino's Vandals.

For now I'm chalking it up to an off night. As Petrino said last night, "We haven't done that in three years. We're going to be able to throw and catch the ball."

It just seems odd that he is supposed to be one of the Top QB's in the league yet when I checked the in game stat line he was 8-22 passing. Hopefully this isn't an indication of what to expect for the rest of the season for Idaho as now is the time to show out. For you all, I hope Montana State competes for the Big Sky Championship. Would give the players that remain some confidence going into the transition that they may have a shot at competing for a National Championship within their four years.

Yep. "Odd" is the right word for it. Based on Linehan's history I doubt it happens again unless he has a physical problem he didn't show in the game.

It looks like he hurt himself late in the 2nd quarter. Before that play he was 5/11 for 109 yards and a 128.69 PER. After that play he was 3/19 for 19 yards plus a pick which equals a 13.66 PER.

His PER last year was 135.5, and a slight dip is in line with a QB who missed all of spring camp, had surgery, was very limited in fall camp and is in his first outing. If he was able to continue playing and throwing the ball (albeit very poorly) my guess is it's something minor and he will be back to old form soon. He showed a lot of athleticism and was making good decisions he just couldn't put the ball where he wanted it.

The big thing is MSU knew we couldn't throw the ball and we were able to close out the game running the ball and still averaged 7 yards per rush. The defense came out slow and gave up a TD on the first drive of each half and made good adjustments to shut down the offense. The FG came off a fumble on the first play of a drive on our own 30 and they got off the field in 4 plays.

The last time we had a bend don't break defense and a serious rushing game plus a breakout, 3 year starter at QB with a cast of talented WR's was in 09 and we won 8 games that year. The next 2 games are bodybag contests vs PAC 12 teams so Linehan has 3 weeks to get healthy for UNLV. We're still on track to go bowling if he heals up and returns to his old form.
