It'll be decided from there. Tulsa, SMU and Rice are professional/political courtesies. With a huge chunk of eastern teams, they're not going west (except maybe BYU). Temple is not even close, another point to show that academics are important, the other factors still remain. These will be the final six announced next and then the actual expansion teams in October. Who that'll be, I don't know.

You're entitled to your opinion, but I disagree and think you're underestimating how much they value a huge TV market.

Agreed. I think those are the six who are under serious consideration. While BYU is strong, they make the "island" problem worse, so when considering that plus the LGBT stuff and other issues like Sunday play, I think the miss the cut. So I've had two mixes getting in.

UC and UConn plus Houston and one FL school
UC and UConn plus both FL schools.

This has already been done, and Cincy and UH won. Temple was the #16 seed, BTW.

Cincinnati alum/fan I would be happy regardless would join us if we were invited to the conference. That being said, there is a part of me that would be happy if UConn and USF joined us due to our shared Big East history.

Umm, as a UCF fan, TV market is one of our biggest assets, so I'm definitely not underestimating TV market. I'm not the decision maker in the Big12, either. However, I think this group is the core six. But we'll see. Who knew about Memphis, right?

Thanks for posting this! I don't go to Fox Sports as often as other sites (cbssports/espn mostly).

And I admit that Temple as a 2 seed was high. In my original "by the numbers" post I discuss my methodology and why they ended up with such a high rank. Short answer: probably an artificial boost in attendance last year, decent basketball and academics, and market size.

16 out of 18 seems low on the other hand.

It needs to be double elimination if it's two schools. Quintuple elimination if it's four.
