I could not agree with Mike DeCourcy any more ardently on this issue. The Big 12 has embarrassed itself beyond belief throughout this entire process and it only seems to be worsening. They have treated this process like it's the freaking Bachelor and that's a shame for all involved. It has made everyone look silly and small.

However, the schools under consideration have no choice but to jump onto the dysfunction train because if they don't, somebody else will. And if that happens, their path to the big time could be permanently blocked.

Also, if/when Oklahoma and Texas leave, they need to have those relationships in place. This is also why the Big 12 would be wisest to expand by four teams – even though history tells us they will not.
