I realize he was recruiting that entire time and building the program, but wasn't Wilder's first game ~2.5 years after his hire date?

2.5 is right. First game was Sept 5, 2009

Doc's starting his 7th season. Doesn't seem that long ago he was the new coach. Pruett was here 9 years for comparison.

We certainly have a consistent coaching system in place with Stock. I think it's time to get another 10 win season. He needs one.

Doc was hired on my 38th birthday, Dec 17, 2009. It doesn't seem like its been that long ago. Besides the two 5-7 seasons where Doc was still getting his players in and changing the culture, its been a pretty good ride.

Doc is now 59 and I don't see anyone coming after him at his age, not even the Who, and about half of their fan base want him to replace Holgerson. I look for Doc to coach another 8-10 years and retire at Marshall as long as his health is good. And leave Marshall as its winningest coach in Marshall history. As of right now only 3 coaches have more wins than Doc. And that's Bobby Pruett at 94 wins, Cam Henderson at 68 and Jim Donnan at 64. Doc has 50 and if all goes as planned he can pass Henderson and Donnan next year.
