The Case for Memphis
Memphis has a decent case for getting an invite to the Big12. They have location, solid cuisine and potential backing from FedEx. It will be hard for other candidates to beat that.

Oh I am so sorry that I forgot solid cuisine is a "major factor" in getting a school accepted for expansion!! Really!03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao

You laugh, but there is an effective marketing strategy called the "Three B's". I think it works in getting a school into the Big12.

Welp, BYU is definitely out, unless the Big 12 Presidents love potlucks and casseroles or have an affinity for green jello salad and food storage staples with diet Mountain Dew.

Although, perhaps the BYU Creamery makes a last minute pitch and serves mint brownies and graham canyon ice cream...

That's how I see it but the BYU/CSU adds depend solely on BYU going through the process without being arbitrary & pissing off the B12 decisionmakers - at least until after they join.

Besides a couple of seasons, Memphis has been pretty terrible over the last number of years. Basketball hasn't been that great either. BYU and Cincy/Houston appear to be the serious candidates

Memphis has been to 7 bowls in the last 12 seasons and our bball is strong minus our nonboy wonder years and even then we kicked us some Louisville ass. Boy I love me some Louisville ass (well kicked of course), lol

I don't think location is a factor. They have Fedex and honestly that's it. Memphis TV market is completely dominated by the SEC and isn't large enough to even be considered for a Big 12 invasion. Memphis doesn't have an OCS or a OCA (Arena).

I'm not saying they shouldn't be part of the conversation but I do not understand the confidence of some Memphis posters because of the remaining candidates, Memphis overall resume is one of the weakest remaining.

The same Louisville that was just coming off a National Championship? This is about Memphis anyways, not us

Which school has a 60,000 seat stadium that is better than the liberty bowl? which school has an 18,000 seat arena that is better than the FedEx forum? Which school has higher attendance numbers? Which school is currently rated higher in football recruiting? Which school is a better geographic fit?

I think Memphis has a lot to offer and would make the transition to P5 more easily than most other schools.

The stadium nor the arena is on campus like the other Big 12 members. The other expansion candidates except for USF all have on campus stadiums and arenas which represents traditional college campus. And yes I think that is a huge deal. What make you believe UCF, UConn, BYU, Cincy, or Houston couldn't make the transition just as easily as Memphis? Matter of fact, those schools are more ready to make the transition than Memphis.

BYU stadium is better than the Liberty Bowl. Raymond James is leaps and bounds better than the Liberty Bowl. But what is the use in playing in a 60,000 seat stadium if you're not able to fill it up? If Memphis gets in then great for the Tigers. I just don't get this sure thing attitude from some of you.

By that definition then, we're golden. Our "Three B's" are Beach. Babes. and Baseball. So there you have it miko, UC Santa Barbara is heading to the Big12. 02-13-banana

My, that was specific. A fan who's not afraid to take a risk!

You seem more certain than the B12 presidents are at this point.
