RE: Football Coaches Luncheon
Dear Friends,
The fourth coaches luncheon had about forty people in attendance. (For those not in the area, it is raining and cold) I think that held attendance down a bit.
Coach Creighton did not have a guest player, and I didn't ask why none was available, so I don't know. He talked about the Toledo, Ohio, and Western games to bring people up to speed. The Ohio game was the first time Creighton had played them, and he said the team responded like he hoped they would. One question with the Western game was why was a penalty flag thrown on the pass to Cole Gardner. Coach Creighton said it was an illegal pass because it was not a lateral. It had nothing to do with reporting to the referees as suggested by the announcers, if you were watching television.
Personnel ready for the Miami game: Todd Porter at quarterback, and possibly Blake Banham. Ian Eriksen is day to day.
I want to get into some recruiting ideas, but I have to leave and will pick it up when I return.

RE: Football Coaches Luncheon
Dear Friends,
On the recruiting wars, Coach Creighton said that they ask recruits if they want to be a part of building a program, rather than being a part of existing programs. He continued by saying that he never says to any recruit that they will be a redshirt coming into the program, because one does not know from year to year who will be available to play.
For the Miami game, there may be some new wrinkles, but as usual, Coach Creighton would not elaborate. He does like the play of the pass to Cole Gardner, because he is a former tight end.
Any questions?
