Agree with your second paragraph. Its why Newton has surged after struggling early on.

Kapernick's strength was always that his low salary freed up spending for other talent around him on the team. He gave a level of competence on the cheap. His team was not built around him, but instead around the lack of a superstar QB. Soccernomics or Moneyball applied to the NFL.

Kap had the luxury of having a NFC championship caliber team around him and one of the best coaches in the NFL. Well, for a few seasons anyway.

As soon as the coach left and the team began to level off, his play dropped off quite a bit.

That is why he is no longer a starting QB at this point.

He's average at best and most GM's and scouts weren't too impressed even before these comments came out. He lacks most of the intangibles NFL teams look for in a franchise QB. He is not a leader and does not inspire confidence or trust in his teammates.

Anyone who has every coached football (And I did for 10 years) knows that you are only as good as your talent. The 49ers would have never gotten to the Superbowl without Kap.

Horse**** Pure unadulterated horse****

There's a long list of quarterbacks that are in the league right now who not only could do what Kaepernick did during that Super Bowl run.

damn... now he is a coach??? 03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao

ikr?

Fit obviously has some serious mental issues. He thinks he is a history teacher, martial arts master with his own dojo, football coach, I can't even remember most of the nonsense he has claimed he is/was.

Its not all that funny anymore. The elevator clear does not go to the top.

Alex Smith wasn't going to get them there that year. His concussion let Harbough make the switch

The QB had a very small role in that teams success.

They were 23rd in the NFL in passing.

Conversely they had the #3 ranked defense, the #4 ranked rushing game and outstanding special teams play.

Alex Smith was 6-2-1 as a starter,
Kaepernick was 5-2 as a starter.

Eye test my friend. I watched all the games that year as a fan. Smith was too conservative under center. Also couldn't throw the deep ball very accurately. Kaep wasn't that much better, but his wheels helped. It was that difference in the two playoff games.

I watched many of them as well. Both players were very conservative with the pass, and it was also by design. There was very little difference between the two or the final results. Kaepernick could scramble, that was his only advantage. Smith is a better passer. Neither Smith or Kapernick was/are anything more than a conservative game manager.

Its also why Kaepernick isn't very good when he doesn't have a dominate running game and SB caliber team surrounding him so he doesn't have to make too many plays or put the ball in the air very much.
