RE: 3 C-USA schools sell games to Tennessee for good money.
I think the SEC has realized the cost of getting "buy" games is on the rise. USM recently signed a 2 game contract with Auburn for 2018 and 2020 with the paydays being $1.7 million and $1.85 million respectively. I wouldn't be surprised in the next few years to see G5 teams getting $2 million a game for playing at a top SEC team. I don't necessarily see Ms State, Kentucky, Ole Miss or Vandy forking out $2 mil but could easily see Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Florida, UGA, A&M, and LSU doing it. IMO I'm not sure Mizzou, Arkansas and South Carolina are quite there yet but I could very well be wrong.

it's our future....has always been....

that's the game as she plays....

we are geographically lucky.....at some point, sum will realize how shite 'works'

it goes much deeper into the 'think tank well'

Southern Miss doing the Rocky Top tango next season. Don't know the pay day. Years supply of craptastic hunters orange clothing perhaps.

We sure played Florida life-or-death last year, despite getting a cool mill to go there.

RE: 3 C-USA schools sell games to Tennessee for good money.
Interesting article from 2015 on the UK-USM series. I had forgotten that we were replacing UAB on the UK schedule. **keep in mind this article was written prior to the 2015 season**

http://www.kentucky.com/sports/college/k...02905.html

UK will be the first Southeastern Conference team outside of the state of Mississippi to visit the Eagles' M.M. Roberts Stadium. **USM did host Texas A&M in 1998 but they were not in the SEC yet obviously**

UK's deal with Southern Miss replaces the $800,000 single-game guarantee contest with UAB, which eliminated its football program six months ago

The two schools have met twice in football with UK winning both games, one coming in 1949 and the other in 1986. Both games were played in Lexington and the Cats won by a combined score of 103-7.

Meanwhile, Tennessee has played MT two measly times in the 16+ years we've been in FBS, and never to my knowledge in the 85+ years we played Football in FCS, or Div 1-AA, or NAIA; and we are only 165 miles away from Neyland Stadium?!@#$% Anybody wonder why that is? I think we already know.

USM could say the same about Ole Miss and Ms State. Up until the last 2 years vs Ms State, the last time USM had played either of them was over 25 years ago when Favre was still at USM and his senior year. Last time we played Ole Miss was 1984.

Same reason UK stopped playing WKU. When they found out they might (did) lose (twice in a roll) it killed them with in state recruiting and in state perception with fans. They are in a no win sistuation unless they know they will win the game.

I don't care too much about playing UT all that often until we can host them, which isn't happening at our current capacity.

I could see them doing a 2 for 1 if your home game was in Nisson Stadium like WKU did with UK. It would be a true home game for MT but with the more seating. I think WKU and UK was a 1-1-1-1 but UK isn't UT either

We've done it once against Louisville, but it was a decade ago. I think 40% of the crowd is about as good as we could hope for at Nissan, even that might be optimistic.

I wouldn't mind seeing Rice play one at Tenn as well...or at Georgia, for that matter. Anyone have UGA on their upcoming schedules?

It would be a sell out for sure! I think WKU had close to 50% of the crowd at Nisson stadium... Don't short sell your fans when a big game comes around I think they show.
