It's up to the SEC....Full merger-the only way to go
Yep!
The SEC needs to absorb the entire Big 12 and divide into two 12 team divisions, which would give ESPN almost complete control of NCAA football and basketball.
West (a)
Iowa State
Kansas
Kansas State
Missouri
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State
West (b)
A&M
Texas
Baylor
TCU
TT
Arkansas
The east could be divided in multiple ways (I'll leave that to your SEC preference) although you do have to fit in West Virginia somewhere.
TV, rivalries, convenience of travel....any way you slice it it works for the SEC, the Big 12 and ESPN and makes everybody a lot of money.

Whats the incentive to take Iowa St, Kansas St, TCU, or Baylor? Or for that matter TT, WVU, Kansas, or OK St?

Agree... NO. Need two more if any, and stop at 16.

If the PAC pulls Texahoma (Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State) west then the SEC is left staring at West Virginia and Baylor/TCU because Kansas has gone to the B1G, and Notre Dame and friend are in the ACC and ESPN is harping about getting to 16 to make the playoff work will you be sorry?
These things could happen. The networks will want a return on their investment and playoffs are the proven way to deliver the money so there won't be an option to stay at 14. You might get what you get and you'll have to like it for a long time.

If that were to happen the SEC doesn't need to take anybody that will dilute the product.
That's called working against yourself.

Nah, not really.
You have 8 state schools to place. They haven't always been together and don't need to remain together.
If Texas wants to maintain all Texas games then maybe they go to the PAC with the three other Texas schools. I doubt the PAC wants that however. That's why all the fuss. They were merely trying to leverage spots for those that don't add to anyone's bottom line. If the networks were willing to make it happen, and if the conferences were willing to compromise it would have already happened. But it hasn't and likely won't. So two years out from the end of the GOR there will be moves if any are to happen.
I must confess I was almost hoping the Big 12 would take B.Y.U. and another just to watch the Big 10 fanboys melt away with all of their grandiose plans in ruins. In the end I think Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and maybe W.V.U. find homes. Texas Tech, Iowa State, and Oklahoma State stand a chance.

The playoff would work fine whether we've got 16 or 14. That doesn't matter. Whether it's champs only or expands wouldn't make a difference.
If the playoff expands to 8 then the conference champions get their auto-bid and the other spots are at-large.

Gonna agree with No
B12 is a dead conference walking because it has too many redundant/small market teams no need to add any of that here.

No thanks...
I'd be happy with OU and one more. At that point I don't care. Whoever they want to bring. Either KU for basketball or Oklahoma State so we can market that rivalry. After that we just need to shut it down.
Or we could take just OU and sit at 15 like many here have suggested. I would never want to give Texas any sort of power. If we have basically the entire Big 12 they can work their little conference breaking magic on us and cause us to split or something. No thanks. We're fine at 14. If we do decide to get bigger it needs to make sense or not happen.

It's OK
Honestly, by that point of the season I was almost relieved that we lost just because it assured we would get a complete and total break from the previous staff.
