SMU@NT Question
In 2013, SMU brought maybe 200 fans to the game. It was terrible fan support for a program that only needed to travel about 30 miles.

Last season, around 7-10K (my guess based on what I saw) North Texas fans attended the game at Ford. I know SMU has a much smaller enrollment, but will you bring a respectable crowd to Apogee Saturday?

I thought smu was a fairly large school?

RE: SMU@NT Question
lol at smack talk by the unt fan

and i literally just googled the game, smu had a pretty big showing in your place 2 years ago
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNqvXMMjTg4
look at 44secs a fully packed smu section

and at 1:30 in the unt section you can clearly see hundreds of smu fans mixed into the unt sections

that only showed 1 side of the stadium but it looked like a 60/40 ratio

while you're trash talking smu that game in 2014 was one of the highest attended unt home games in recent years

I think it has an enrollment similar to baylor/tcu, and not as many undergrads.. most the smu ppl I know went there for grad school.

UNT is similar to UH/Tech and has mainly undergrads so fan support would naturally be higher.

I'm not talking smack. I'm asking a question. I'd like to have a big crowd for all the games in this series. I think it is in the best interest of both universities.

Your observation of a few segments is very wrong.

The camera angle only shows the bottom part of the visitors section. The top was mostly empty. Almost half of the lower SMU section was taken up by their band, which has 80 members. So, My 200 estimate is fairly close.

At the 1:30 mark in the video you can see maybe 10 SMU fans in the Wing Zone area, not 100. Even if you estimate the same ratio throughout the entire stadium, there still was probably not 100 more SMU fans mixed into the North Texas sections. I know there were none in my section.

The game did have a decent crowd, but not because SMU brought large numbers. Trust me. I was there.

SMU@NT Question
Pesik, you're engaging a UNT fan and using multi-syllable words. You expect a logical response? If you want a more fact based answer, ask how many meth dealers were in the UNT student section. That should be easier for him to answer.

RE: SMU@NT Question
He didn't say anything offensive. This post is basically a "who plans on attending" thread, which many of you have participated in. SMU brought more Basketball fans to houston last year than they did for football.. I'd be interested in the smu fan base getting enthused about football again too.

RE: SMU@NT Question
Dear vcoog

This is 100% smack
If he was honestly interested he would have said the game haven't been as pack as he'd have hoped, how many do you think might come this year. I'm hoping this grows into something bigger

Instead it was a ridiculous underestimation of the fan turn out, calling it pathetic, bragging about his fans turnout.. This is easily trash talk

Imagine a UTSA fan coming to the AAC forum with A thread like this worded how he did towards us

Dear side

Your estimation of 200 is ridiculous, if you say they are only 200 in that video you are blind
I clearly know what their band looks like but in the section next to the band at :44 it is 100% filled, you see the bottom section of the the top rows and you can see lots SMU fans..at the 1:20-1:40 mark, if you only count 10 fans you are clearly blind (or only counting blue shirts, smu doesn't only wear blue). there are easily a few hundred SMU fans in both the end zone and mixed with UNT fans

That is only 1 side and you pointed out that it's only the lower half and just in that small section there are easily over 1000 SMU fans, easily. That doesn't even include the rest, and whatever estimation you have for the not visible sections is no longer credible with your 200 estimation and 10 people count

If you truly believe there was only 200 SMU fans it's becuase you came late in mid 3rd quarter in the 43-6 UNT blowout where most fans would have already left

I do know SMU has sold all of their allotment. Fans are excited with what Chad is doing, and with winning the support will come back. 1-0 after Saturday.

Did NT change their colors? Because that section to left appear to full and all SMU.

Have you ever been to UNT's stadium? That section in the video you're referencing probably at max could seat 400 people, and they aren't in that tight so it's probably around 300 fans. Apogee has a capacity of I think 32k, so if that's the SMU section, yes they traveled like ****.

When UH came in the year the stadium opened almost the entire quarter of those stands were red, and we probably only had around 3k fans. The stadium isn't that big. The 200 number isn't far off, and I don't think he meant it to trash I think he was asking why more of them aren't showing up, and if they're changing it. Pretty common, many UH fans wonder why rice fans don't make the drive.

UofH brought a great crowd (a couple thousand) to Apogee (30,850). Aside from the score, it was a fun night. It is nice to hear some input from someone that has actually been to our stadium.
