Then, if he had to go back to LA to save Sarah, where was the "past" Kyle Reese? I don't think he was 'there' per se, it's just in that timeline he was John's father. With the whole theme of fate and all, I think even though having him as the father was different from the 'original' timeline without the Terminator and Kyle going back in time, her drastically different personality after the first movie and her genetics came through to create the John who saves humanity.
I liked the abilities of the new Terminator in T3, but the movie was way under budgeted to make it feel like a sequel to T2 in terms of production value. Yeah, it did seem like they rushed it so it could get done before Arnold was in Sacramento. Problem was that T2 did such a great job closing the story line while being a great action film that T3 was unnecessary from the start, though it wasn't bad for what it was.
Salvation wasn't a bad movie and I liked some of its story points. Could've been worse, but the thing about Salvation is that with Judgement Day finished, it was really unnecessary. Mostly was just a post-apocalyptic war film with sci-fi elements, nothing memorable.
