I am writing to assure that any decisions made regarding American flags being permitted into the game were made in the best interests of all attending the game and in the spirit of patriotism and respect for our flag,” Lavely wrote in response to Facebook backlash about the ban, which turned away several students who came to the game with American flags.

Berea is overrun with Mexicans, some illegal and some legal. That is why it is referred to as El Burrito by many in the Upstate of SC.

This is an attack on free speech.

If the flags were being used to taunt other students then I agree. The flag should not be used in this way.

Flags shouldn't be brought into games period. Waving flags of any kind violates the rights of the most important group...the people sitting behind the flag waver's rights to view the damn game.

Guess They will have to bring back the Stars and Bars if the American flag offends Them.

Why would Hispanics be offended by the American Flag within the United States of America ? They are in America. Should I be offended if I were in Mexico, Cuba, El Salvador or whatever country I was in and They were flying Their countries flags. I would look foolish if I did. GET OVER THIS PC CRAP. It breeds hate and dissent as a result.

If I were the superintendent of that district, that would be one principal looking for work. He's pretty clearly poorly educated.

On the other hand, during the Olympics, I never stopped getting chills when US winners wrapped themselves in the flag. I particularly liked the 1-2-3 finish photo.

But seriously though ... Berea/White Horse Road area really is like the Upstate's Little Mexico. Nearly every sign is in Spanish.

That does nothing to make the decision any less stupid by the principals though.

Using the flag to taunt and be verbally abusive to others is not respectful to the flag period. These people are disrespecting the flag and what it represents. Should the flag be banned, no. Should using the flag in a disrespectful manner be banned, oh ******* definitely.
