Memphis tiger Football 2016 Edition
Looking forward to opening the season this Saturday. But curious what to expect in terms of style, execution & success. Looking back at the Fuente start, even though we didn't win immediately, great improvement in execution was apparent from game day one. Over time, a much better "team" emerged. And with the addition of substantially improved skill personnel, Fuente built a solid program over the next few years.

Seems Norvell inherited a solid group of players, hired a good staff & there are great expectations. And mostly what I have heard is a commitment to play fast - which can be a good thing with excellent execution but compound the bad without it. What can we expect in terms of sets, execution, play emphasis - and this on both offense & defense?

I am fired up and believe this will be an exciting offense. Norvell has won me over before they even play. GTG!

Simply lining up in a legal formation and being able to get a play off in the first series was an improvement over the staff they replaced.

I am still trying to purge those years from my memory. That was the lowest point.

Looking for an aggressive defense - improved in every facet and looking to create takeaways. Confident corners and safeties who are able to lockdown opposing WR's and who aren't going to give up a mile of yardage to the opposing QB.

Does this mean our DBs are playing closer to the LOS or we blitzing more - and does this make us more susceptible to the big play?

And let's say I didn't even know we'd changed coaches, do I see a difference in the sets, offense or defense?

RE: Memphis tiger Football 2016 Edition
My thoughts in one word each:

Offense - fast

Defense - aggressive

I think, offensively, we'll have the kind of team speed that dictates we get out on the edges early and often. Lots of playmakers.

Defensively, I think we play an aggressive style, trying to make QBs second guess who's coming and who's dropping on any given play. Lots of movement, my guess.

Can't wait til Saturday!

Go Tigers!

Surprising to see Jackson Dillon #2 on the depth chart?

OK...who in the world is Tauvaga Ho Ching II? I keep seeing names coming out of nowhere on this roster. Did I miss his recruiting?

Hopefully he can get healthy soon. He has been battling injury most of last year and still is. I assume he will not play against SEMO, then they have a week off until Kansas. So he has about three weeks before really going all out.

I have similar feelings. I agree that the Fuente's first season was a vast improvement over the previous few years. Much better execution. Like Fuente, Norvell (first time head coach) seems to having been prepping to be a head coach while a coordinator. Am impressed and expect great things from him and the team.

I'm hoping for the very best. I think we sneak in and get a bowl game in Norvell's first season.

Game one of the Fuente Era was a loss to UT Martin at home. Safe to say we will start better than that this time.
