Was referring only to defense.

RE: Game week: NC State
Injuries are an inevitable part of every season. While you would love to have all the starters for this higher profile contest, it (as has been said) is important to get them healthy for FCS play. The old "next man up" mentality means a great opportunity for a backup to shine. I, personally, am looking forward to watching Funderburke run. 7000+ yards rushing is a lot of yards, ANYWHERE.

The test should come, again, in the later stages of the game when quality substitutions make a difference. We have a talented and experienced line on O. If the D-line performs as well, we have a shot.

That's all you can ask.

So lets assume that Ken is out. Do we ride with Funderburke or use a Funderburke-Dunn-Britt committee out of the backfield?

I would think that we would at the very least keep Funderburke fresh by using Dunn & Britt for several series. I would imagine we might want to evaluate them a bit more as well, but I would expect to have Funderburke get the majority of carries.

I'm hoping that Cluley is quicker releasing the ball and spends less time on thinking thru reads.

Lots of first timers on defense and offense. I'm looking forward to seeing how they step up.

GO Tribe
Great job guys....just hope your insight and optimism for this year doesn't wake up our FBS opponent, at least until the 4th quarter.

A different scenario this year in opening our traditional FBS game at night and on a weekday...Will be interesting to see if the Wolfpack fans are more into this game than they may have been otherwise, given a Saturday of half day pregame tailgating and party distractions on an opening weekend.

Not ready to get too optimistic because given a choice I'd rather see a slow burn, upward trajectory to this season with a killer ending.

Interesting to see the mix this team has with senior experience, and new young talent getting an unusual opportunity (for a Laycock team) to have an early career impact. Bodes well for the talent level coming in. Hope we are able to play relatively mistake free.

Projected wet weather may make this game run centric which may favor the Wolfpack.

Long season..
Roll with purpose Tribe!

See everyone in less than 48

I think we're seeing a lot of freshmen on the two deep because our recruiting classes have better players than in years past. Same thing for our 2017 crowd. It should even out over time.

Forecast right now is for 60% chance of scattered thunderstorms in Raleigh during the game hours. Temps in the mid-80s. I don't mind the rain, I just hope we don't have weather delays, it is a long drive back to Concord.

Maybe Sandy will lease you floor space in his Comfort Suites room. Besides, if we pull the upset, it's party all night at the Backyard Bistro

SF's hotel floor space is spoken for and I'm not spooning with NCT.

You might keep checking the hotel. They apparently had a cancellation last night and I grabbed it. I had a reservation earlier, but a conflict arose. It cleared up Monday.

SF ...isn't time for a new signature picture ? As much as we all wish DHC was still playing for The Tribe he has moved on .

SF, you could use the new stadium shot. I'm betting THAT ONE doesn't go out of date any time soon...

Since DHC(Thank you DeAndre) has moved on, he has been mistaken for Jerome Couplin and now Tre McBride. Have we forgotten him that fast? (Sorry did not get the signature picture initially). I miss #36...

But I do like the pancake of the New Hampshire player in that shot......

I hope DHC makes the Bears final roster, although it looks like it will be a long year for the Bears this season.

Looking forward to seeing how the new defensive faces do tonight and hoping for some clear weather. Rain has not been our friend in the recent past.
