ECU has a winning record head-to-head against TCU but it doesn't mean we're in a better position than them. Also, ECU has beaten USM 4 of the last 5 and the most recent game was pretty ugly. That said, I wish USM the best except if we play them again of course. I certainly understand their fan's frustrations.

Am I missing something here? Not on TV? I look at your schedule and I see 3 games that are on TV, not a streaming network. You play once on the "U," (vs. NC State) once on the SEC Network (vs. S. Carolina), and once on ESPN (vs. Navy)

Southern Miss plays on ESPN U (vs. Kentucky), once on ESPN 2 (vs. L. Tech), and at the very least, on SEC Network (vs. LSU).

That is basically the same exposure, less your 1 appearance on ESPN on a Thursday night. So what was your point? Oh, that is right. You had no point, less the one about our historical record against you is not an accurate or fair barometer to compare our programs. Hmmm?

Yes. Your 2-1 record vs. TCU is just as indicative as your 12-27 record against USM. Keep on justifying with any logical fallacy that you can reach. Any please point out that the "ugly" showing that we had against you was in 2012, the worst year in our history. I know, right. There is no comparison between the exposure the AAC gets and whatever conference USM is in gets. To say otherwise is absolutely ridiculous. The money is also no comparison. I do get a laugh about the all time record argument that USM fans are constantly trumpeting, as if it means anything right now. I guess when you have nothing else to say, you always revert back to glory days. Sad really.

Ok....I'm a die hard Southern Miss fan, whether we are in CUSA or the AAC...and I've been that way for 40 plus years and more than likely I will be this way as long as the Good Lord allows me to live. And in those 40 plus years, I remember the games with our former CUSA rivals whether it be as independents or as conference mates...that's why I want to be reunited. I don't see what some of you have your panties in a wad when mentioning USM over here. While there are some poster that like to bash USM, there are quite a few that always say very nice things about us and have expressed that they would like to see us added to the AAC..and I personally do appreciate it.

When did a program's history cease to matter? Since I can't predict the future and we don't compete in the present, what other evidence can enter a logical argument other than past performance.

It seems that history doesn't matter only on sports message boards. Polls think that the past matters. Las Vegas odds makers certainly seem to think that history matters. It's only when history doesn't support the narrative that you would like to present that history does not matter.

Oh, well. I have tired of this conversation regarding which orphan has the biggest hole in their shoes. We are all orphans. We will all end up in the same heap. Your heap is better than ours currently. When the outcasts are divided regionally for the sake of survival, we will all be equal once again.

I would love to be reunited with the likes of ECU b/c I would rather be on the outside looking in with our traditional rivals that with this group we are with now. Joining the current AAC teams would give us a momentary shot in the arm. In the long-run, however, ECU and USM are in the same boat. I think that ECU fans' knowledge of this is what leads to the defensiveness.

I've always liked USM. I remember back in 1992 going to see our NCAA-tournament bound hoops team play your Clarence Weatherspoon team at the Sun Dome. IIRC, we won that game but you beat us at your place and in the conference tournament. You were the only team to beat us twice that year. It was always fun competing with you.

If it was up to me, USM would have been a part of the Big East and AAC the last 10 years.
