How come UC and Bengals are at home on the same night
It seems someone missed the opportunity to schedule opposite the Bengals. Apparent someone needs to put some thought into scheduling . I hope it does not hurt the UC game attendance at a time when UC needs to shine.

I am looking at the Bengals Schedule and see no overlaps except for pre season game 9/1. Neither game is a compelling event.

So who do you blame? UC or Bengals (NFL). I think neither wanted to conflict with Friday Night Lights or play on Saturday when many are doing on end of summer Labor Day weekend travel.

I don't fault anyone but it's obvious that the Bengal game will hurt UC more then UC will hurt the Bengals. I would rather play onSaturday and not conflict with the Bengals.

NFL Preseason has always ended on Thursday of Week 4 for the past 5+ years so it is on UC for scheduling this game opposite the Bengals. That being said, Friday is not good because of HS FB.

I would have scheduled it for Saturday. Students are in school and unless their family lives within a couple of hours drive, they aren't going home for the weekend since there is school Friday and then Tuesday. I will be there regardless if they play Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday.

We must have got a TV payout for a Thursday start against a scrum.

Why the hell should UC schedule around a meaningless pretend football game with 3rd stringers where the main objective is to run the clock without someone getting injured?

Because the Big 12 is looking at fan base attendance. That is why UC needs fans to show up even for UTM.

When it came out I thought that they were supposed air the game on FSO. Looking back on that though, it does not seem to be the case.

ESPN dictates our schedule. Dance with the devil.

I won't even be there on Thursday. This is the one game of the year I wasn't intending to use my ticket. Will try to watch on ESPN3...but it's kinda hard.

My student season ticket will be used though.

I think there's very little crossover. Fundamentally different fanbases.

Due to high school football and my stats/computer points duties, Thursday is actually the best day for me. I will be down before lunch and hanging out on campus all day.

If we are going to be in the B12, the fan base needs to act like one. Meaning - show up Thurs night. Frankly, I do not see the big deal. The Bungles game is a practice and not a real game. Who the heck cares about NFL preseason? Bearcatmill's crew will be in attendance.

Have fun. I'm heading to NYC the next day and don't think it'd be a good idea to put another 10 hour game day in before it's all said and done. Between work days.

Yes and no. There are many hardcore football fans that attend (or have) both. I've had season tickets to the Bearcats from '90 on since I graduated. Family, myself included, had Bengals season tickets from '68 to '08. Had many weekend doubleheaders.

I doubt ESPN had any influence on this particular game. Why would they care about when we play a FCS opponent? 03-confused

Because they own the rights to all our games. Filling slots.

While I agree with your sentiment, how many "big time" programs play an FCS team on a weeknight? I'll save you the trouble of looking it up - none.

I am guessing the coaching wants extra time to prepare for Purdue and Houston.
