Because the Big 12 is looking at fan base attendance. That is why UC needs fans to show up even for UTM.

Exactly

I think there's very little crossover. Fundamentally different fanbases.

I think you're wrong, just my opinion though.

This game should have been scheduled for Saturday afternoon! That being said, I'll still be there.

If we are going to be in the B12, the fan base needs to act like one. Meaning - show up Thurs night. Frankly, I do not see the big deal. The Bungles game is a practice and not a real game. Who the heck cares about NFL preseason? Bearcatmill's crew will be in attendance.
While I agree with your sentiment, how many "big time" programs play an FCS team on a weeknight? I'll save you the trouble of looking it up - none.

Huh? This happens every year. This year Utah is playing Southern Utah on Thursday and Michigan State is playing Furman on Friday.

Playing Devil's Advocate, I think we draw better for Thursday night games than we do for a 12pm Saturday kickoffs.

Last year we had 40,000 for an FCS opponent (on a stormy night). Granted a lot of it was due to the fact that we had just redone Nippert, but I still impressed by the showing that night.

You beat me to it Clifton. Mich St also traveled to a MAC school last year.

Syracuse is hosting Colgate and Baylor is hosting Northwestern St. Friday night. Tennessee is playing App. State on (gasp) Thursday night. NC State is playing William & Mary Thursday. Heck, Indiana is traveling to FIU Thursday night as well. Nothing to see here

Plus night games are better when it is potentially still so darn hot out.
