Doug Free in his 10th season
10 years. wow. I did some investigating and the NFL has been very profitable for him after this year, he will have earned $36 million.

I would think his pension is already in the $5000-$6000 per month range. That doesn't include any additional retirement benefits such as 401k matching that he has taken advantage of. Hopefully he'll let a lot of his eventual $41MM work for him and he'll have some generational wealth.

That sounds about right. Pensions use to be $500/year of service but they only kicked in after 5 years. I worked with a guy who's kid played and he did everything he could to get that 5th year. I think he ended up playing 7-8.

Yeah it's only 3 years of service now and I believe $650/month for this year and next...then $750/month for 2018-2020 or something. Of course they don't start collecting that until they hit 55 but it's a good plan.
