I don't know if this is the appropriate forum or not but a very good friend of mine, Rocky, was found shot to death inside his place in Cordova earlier this morning.

His dad, Tommy, is an inactive member who doesn't post much (to my knowledge, not since I joined) but views this site regularly. He introduced me to you guys in the first place, where I browsed for a good year before joining. I have tailgated at Tiger Lane with Tommy and Rock for virtually every game since 2013.

If any of you guys knew Rock, you knew that he was one of the most charismatic, real people you could know. It didn't matter where in Memphis we were, he knew somebody else there. This sucks.

My niece posted some pictures of her with Rocky on facebook. She was friends with him and some of the pictures they were tailgates. She didn't say what happened.

Sounds like the dad found him and the cause of death is unknown or if any foul play was involved

SCSO is being bare with the details right now, they haven't even reported his name, but they have said that no gun was found at the scene and that Rock's truck is missing.

That's really odd and it may have been someone that knew him

Very sad. Prayers to his family and friends and also that justice is served.

My son was friends with Rocky, he (son) called us this morning and told us the news. I'm sure Rocky's been at my house when they were kids. May he RIP.

Rock was a true ambassador for the Tigers and for Memphis. He didn't go out anywhere without wearing one of his many Tigers hats. Has a 901 tattoo. He was a true Memphian. I consider myself a Memphian, but I know Memphians who represent our city better than I do.

Rock was certainly one of those people.

33 years old. Man, that is tough to hear. Sorry for your loss.

Prayers for the family and that the authorities catch the perp without getting hurt themselves.

Prayers for grace and peace for the family and friends and for justice for the perpetrator.

Sounds like more is to the story like something personal to shoot someone in the head, but either way, i'm sorry for friend. Here's some Memphis music dedicated to a Memphian and Tiger fan. This song always reminds me of my young friends who have already passed. Unfortunately, that number is larger than i would have ever imagined.

Yeah, I haven't even begun to accept it yet. Just not registering.

I figured some of you guys (and some of you do) know Tommy and Rock. I wouldn't know when they last missed a game at the Liberty Bowl. Rock's had a season ticket since he was three I think. Tommy was going to games at Crump growing up.

Speaking of which, one of my favorite Rock moments was a late night that ended up at Printer's Alley on Cleveland. After an hour or so, we decide to walk across the street and check out Crump. The far endzone was open past the south alley. We ran around on the field at 5a and acted like fools.

Very sorry for this senseless loss. He sounds like a great guy. I drove past that intersection just yesterday...
