Good news about beIN CUSA deal
http://www.underdogdynasty.com/2016/8/25...-streaming

Read the story - the beIN deal might be a lot better than people realize. Here's one cool part.

"Each online broadcast will feature a 30-minute pregame show, half-time show, and post-game wrap-up. In-studio talent includes beIN Sports’ Jeremy St. Louis, whose work you may not be familiar with, and former NFL quarterback Donovan F. McNabb, whose work is a little easier to find online. They’ll be joined by former Dolphins wide receiver O.J. McDuffie, and former #1 overall draft pick Ki-Jana Carter."

So the broadcasts, play by play, will be done from a studio by dudes watching it? That is crap!

I think BeIn is going all out on the college football part of things. Could end up being a good long term partnership to have.

That's where this is heading. ESPN and FS1 did it for some games last season. They either fly out a sideline reporter or use someone local, but the PxP and color are done in-studio. It doesn't sound like that much of a cost savings, but if you multiply it by 10 games and then 10 weeks, it adds up.

Why is it a big deal if they are in studio instead of at the game? Quite honestly, when on site, they sit in the booth staring at the monitors anyway. It's not like the guys in the press box at a high school game.

The biggest difference is when the broadcasters are able to talk to the coaches, watch practice for a day or two and talk about the gameplan and then the broadcasters have an idea of what to look for during the game. This allows for a better overall presentation.

Yep. It makes a difference for sure. I remember watching Dave Wandstat do a Tech game last year from the studio and there is definitely a difference in the quality of the broadcast

RE: Good news about beIN CUSA deal
there are only official stats for remotely called games too; all the little extras talent stat guys provide are missing...lots of on-site producers hate remote games (the time delays are the hardest to deal with, out of the myriad of problems remote productions create); time-out coordinators can get really confused with this too

I am impressed with McNabb and KiJana Carter but seriously, more studio garbage? Leads to more talk about overall college football then the game at hand, really not good IMO....How much time do you think they are going to spend talking strictly CUSA? My guess using studio to talk overall college football and not just CUSA...

Well, we'll have to see, but: "These people will be talking about CUSA games. That’s it. The 14 teams of Conference USA and nothing else, no wading through coverage of some conference you don’t like to get to the good stuff, this is 4+ hours of CUSA coverage, minimum, every Saturday during the season."

and

"As Underdogs, we’re cautiously optimistic, as new sporting ventures don’t always necessarily live up to the hype (Fox Sports One, anybody?). But for Conference USA, this puts them a step ahead of every Group-of-Five conference, save for the Mountain West, who has their own network."

Well the 3 big studio people did a live chat on facebook yesterday and talked very little about CUSA. They did spend time talking about the SEC, BCS playoff, and etc though.

Well, I hope it delivers as promised. Really looking forward to watching conference mates play. Hopefully it will help us better appreciate each other. 04-rock

That game was against WKU and it sucked. They only see what the cameras see. They don't give you an actual feel of the game. But hey, any Tech game that gets coverage is way better than one that doesn't. Media wise we have been a have not for so long, I am gonna let stuff like this go.
