I'd say that's pretty close to where I would have ranked WVU....30's- 40's range.

I think ESPN has identified 3 groups in reality here.

that list is a little outdated IMO....

I'd have USC and Ohio State tied in the next spot
As for Nebraska, Michigan, Texas, and Penn State....are you kidding me?? The Florida schools are better than this group now. Sorry traditionalists...Miami, FSU, and Florida have 11 National Championships, multiple dynasties, some of the best teams to play the game (2001 Miami, 1999 FSU, 1993 FSU).
What exactly has Penn State done lately? They had a good year in '05...
Georgia above FSU and Miami is laughable
Also absurd that Pitt and BYU aren't higher.
BYU has won a championship and had a heisman winner....is Oregon really better than them? just cause Oregon has had some fancy jerseys and lost a few championship games?

Looks like a number of other objective lists, like average home football attendance and gate revenue, number of ranked seasons, national award winners, etc.

Once again, tremendously unfortunate that on-field success seems to be the least important factor in terms of being able to compete at the highest level.
Boise State 35 (tied) according to this list.

In Oregon's defense, their Heisman winner is recent, they played in a BCS national championship game, and they have played in the modern-day CFP...

If you are going by National Championships, Army has 5. We are ahead of Penn State and others.

ESPiN's list overvalues long-ago success (ie before today's CFB players were born) and undervalues recent success (ie during the lifetimes of today's CFB players).

Only when wins haven't been converted into value.

Miami highest in the MAC and only behind Houston and UC in AAC. Also ahead of many P5 programs.

RE: ESPN's "most important" programs.
Notwithstanding the current ESPN value of Army, Navy & even some of the current auto 5 schools like Purdue, Indiana, BC, Wake Forest, NC St, Kansas, Cal, Wash St etc, the more important consideration for most G5 schools hoping to be recognized as playing top level D-1 FB is whether their school will be included in the eventual top 64-65 schools that will make up the future autonomous group that will garner the majority of the $$, the TV & the recognition in major college FB. Certainly if current conference membership is the determining factor, and it likely will be, then many deserving programs will not be included.

Excuse me, what makes OU a "King" program and not USC? We have more claimed national titles, 12 more Heisman winners, more all americans, and a better bowl record.
OU is not even the King of their own conference.

You left off Boise State as 35. That puts them in between Oklahoma State and West Virginia.
