They actually re-did some of the scoreboard font. The words "Eagles" and "Guest" are now in gold.

I remember a few years ago when we played Memphis and Tarik Black fouled one of our guys. He looked up at the scoreboard wanting a replay, only to see a dot matrix animation of hands clapping.

I saw one of the Memphis players mouthing..."wtf is that ****"? as he was lookin up at the bigscreen bedsheet in pregame warmups.....he was looking at it like it was some alien life form.

there is no questioning how hoops vs. 'stick and ball' monies have been spent in reverse....it's disturbing to say the least...

it's the 'burg....and it's definitely a 'stick and ball' pony show kinda place....

hell, Hood and wifey provided us with some really nice tennis courts.....

Yeah, the facilities for baseball are nicer than outsiders expect...softball is nice, too. Football now has some really great facilities...

Hoop? Well, it's got a certain charm...

Or at least that's the lie I tell myself to make myself feel better.

nasty, you know why I've been critical of hoops facilities over the years....

and you also know why I want to see things improved....just a few things mentioned in this thread would be a START....

we both love going to games....it's disturbing to see basically the same setting from '80s....as a fan, it demonstrates a lack of management skills....

there are legitimate complaints that have been expressed by too many over the years....

I was never a fan of letting LE go....I was one of the few....I also didn't sleep at a HIE last night nor ever post on EP....

Seven years of nothing and abysmal fan attendance. One year with Heiar's recruiting talent gets us to NCAA first round loss, and now he's a miracle worker? Look, as one of the few students who was at his games and supporting in highs and lows, let's stop looking at history in an unrealistic way. And people saying "well look what happened now that he's gone" are ridiculous. Tyndall's cheating has nothing to do with LE leaving. If Tyndall didn't leave, no one would have ratted and he'd be the most popular basketball coach in USM history.

Some of you seem like the people who wish Bower was back because "look what happened after he left!"

...for those of you keeping score this year marks the 50th anniversary of The Yurt.....'Hattiesburg's premier entertainment venue".........that joint is even older than Rock.

If Hammond hadn't foolishly decided to let the only coach besides Turk to take us to the NCAAs go, we don't get killed by Tydall's nefarious ways. Period.

I guess you think NIT > NCAA, given your logic. Lord have mercy. Get in reality, not Tyndall Town.

We've been to 3 NCAA tournaments. LE took us to one of those. DT did not. And he also set our program back about 5 years. His 2 years that no longer count + at least 3 Doc will have spent trying to repair the damage. So DT set us back at least 5 years.

LE > DT. Those are the facts. Just because snake oil salesman made you feel special at the hardwood club cookout doesn't mean he wasn't a disaster. The guy is a cheater and liar. And he's gotten caught twice now. I will admit he's a heck of a coach. But that doesn't make up for the fact that he's a lying POS.

and the scale of marketing at that time was like my tally at 2 a.m.....

I got sucked in by DT's bs and have admitted such....so what....I'm a simple fan that greated him under the oaks during our first football game on pride....still falls under the, "so what" category

Looking back I don't think that LE would have stayed with Hammond at the helm no matter what. From what I've heard they clashed during a loss at Houston the season we went to the NCAA tourne. LE was a great coach and it was just another great coaching hire by RG. We were an at large tourne team in a G5 conference the year that we made the tourne so it wasn't a fluke like when someone wins a conference tourne. At the time that we hired DT we were coming off a NCAA tourne and had a lot coming back so I believe it was an enourmous error to hire a known cheater.

I can't argue with either point....LE was offered basically same monies and told us to basically 'f off'.....can't blame him one bit....

and I am on record for initially backing JH and that big fat tub 0' goo....I was wrong with both those also...

it's been a tough ride over the last handful....even for those 'stick and ball' pony show folks too...
