To his credit, Beckman did start Rocket FB back on the right track after one of the worst periods in its history.

No hard feelings but I do wish these coaches would have enough respect for our program that they would honor the first five years of their contract unless a plumb job offer comes their way. UI isn't a plumb job

Respectfully disagree when your goal in coaching is to be a big 10 head coach Illinois is a plumb job, Iowa state on the other hand is selling yourself short especially when Missouri wants in interview you.

I firmly believe these guys leave early because they do not believe they can improve upon where they were at that point. Neither Campbell or Beckman were the best coaches in the MAC at the point they left. I do not believe either of them could have improved upon their performances to that point. Their shtick wears out. Only so much you can do with the "process" if you don't know how to get guys ready for an important home game after being handed a second opportunity. Beckman was never going to beat NIU. He could not come up with a defense to stop them. ever.

Now we will see if Candle is along the same lines. Maybe he believes more in the way his college coach handled things. Build it right, then make it last.
