I was woken up by an earthquake in suburban Chicago back in 2005 or so. Weird as heck to stand there and have everything moving.

Earthquakes are weird. Only been in one once and that was in VA about 5 years ago. Didn't even realize it was an earthquake until after the shaking stopped. Of course my wife, who is from South America, laughed it off. They have large quakes down there so this one was nothing.

We had a small one here a few years back, the same one that cracked the Washington Monument. Took a few minutes to realize what happened. I was at the office behind my desk and thought I was having an acid flashback.

I slept through one actually... got up the next morning, wife goes.. "did you feel the earth move"...

I had to bite my tongue to not come up with a 'adult' comeback.

I was living in the DC area when the earthquake hit there a few years back. Definitely a very weird feeling.

Just wait until the New Madrid fault gets pissed off.

Memphis and St. Louis will be no more...

The one with the central VA epicenter jimmied open my china cabinet and all the nice dishes and glasses almost jumped to their deaths. It was a very strange time. Ideally nothing stronger ever hits. Might be a spot of trouble otherwise.

That's weird, I had a similar experience during that one, sitting at my desk in a very old building in Savannah, GA. I thought I was crazy, and probably am anyway, but people did say that one was felt as far south as South Carolina and Sav is right on the border. I just felt like the building tremmored slightly, very odd feeling, some of my co-workers said they felt it too. Acid flashback is certainly a possibility though.

I was in a high rise in uptown Charlotte that day. First thing told me something was up was that my two monitor screens were slowly "scissoring" in front of me. Pretty freaky to feel it even way out here.
