I think the timing is a bit off. But I not opposed to the statue existing.

Contrary to some's beliefs, UCF fans are really torn about this. He did a lot for our school but not without tremendous controversy.

My fiance is a UCF grad (Marketing) and I used to live near the stadium, and made quite a few friends up there and not a single one thinks this is a good idea. Between Plancher, the NCAA sanctions, some controversies with local schools and then quitting mid way through an 0-12 season.... not certain that spells "Statue" material.

Strange how most supporters of UCF Football (i.e. GKC Members) are for this idea but those that don't or never supported UCF (twitterverse) are upset that others are using their own money (i.e. not general funds, not tuition $$, etc..) to honor the man that most of them never knew.

This is what the Mall space outside the stadium will look like in 20 years with these standards for having a statue:

I'm not a fan of it, that's for sure.

7 bowl appearances, 4 conference titles, 81 wins and responsible for 36% of UCF Footballs program wins all-time.

I'm a GKC member and I don't like the idea. I think plaque or the naming of a street for him would be fine. Regardless of what he did for us, he also brought a huge amount of controversy. I know you're an unwavering fan of his KL, so we're going to agree to disagree on this one.

He accomplished a lot but I'm not sold if what he did is worthy of a statue or not. Seems to me like we are trying to manufacture program tradition/history to our 20 years of playing fbs football. I'm not sure it affects the program positively or negatively so I don't really care. Who gets statues isn't for me to decide.
