Well, at least not on Thursday night NFL games.

Hey, NBC ... everyone knows the N Frikkin' L will jerk everyone around every chance they get, just because they can, so maybe you should have cleared this idea with the NFL before you hired Tirico?

Quote:Mike Tirico served as the voice of Monday Night Football for a decade, and when he announced his departure from ESPN to join NBC, it was widely reported that he’d be serving in the play-by-play role for that network’s new Thursday night NFL package. But that’s not going to happen, because the NFL said no.
Quote:“We like the idea of having the same booth announcers from Sunday night and Sunday afternoon to carry over to Thursday,” Brian McCarthy, the NFL’s VP/Communications, said. “We’re hoping for that same magic ‘Sunday Night Football’ has with Al and Cris to carry over to Thursday night.”

Is it just me or is it odd that the NFL has sway over who the networks use for broadcasts? I would have thought Joe Buck would have been removed long ago.

I fail to see it as a bad thing not having Tirico...

The NFL has apparently relented a bit on its original stance, and permitted NBC to sub in Tirico for Michaels in six games starting this Sunday, November 20.

sounds like there was a bit of horse trading there.. NFL wanted New England/NY Jets off on Sunday night- something NBC really didn't want. So they relented on this.

Be careful what you ask for. Tirico's sidekick for his last two NFL games this year will be Doug Flutie.
