Gov. Christie cut Trump's tax bill from $30 million to $5 million
Donald Trump, after stiffing New Jersey contractors in Atlantic City, everyone from cabinet makers to heating and cooling contractors, was in effect given a $25 million gift by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, the New York Times is reporting.

Trump and Christie had been friends for nine years, including numerous shared adventures. They even went on double dates. Trump was a guest at Christie’s inauguration shortly before the tax deal.

And Trump still didn't pick Christie to be his running mate lol (probably because as US Attorney he jailed Trump's son in law's father, Charles Kushner).

From The New York Times:

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/17/us/pol...sinos.html
Quote:By the time Chris Christie became governor of New Jersey, the state’s auditors and lawyers had been battling for several years to collect long-overdue taxes owed by the casinos founded by his friend Donald J. Trump.

The total, with interest, had grown to almost $30 million. The state had doggedly pursued the matter through two of the casinos’ bankruptcy cases and even accused the company led by Mr. Trump of filing false reports with state casino regulators about the amount of taxes it had paid.

But the year after Governor Christie, a Republican, took office, the tone of the litigation shifted. The state entertained settlement offers. And in December 2011, after six years in court, the state agreed to accept just $5 million, roughly 17 cents on the dollar of what auditors said the casinos owed.

And Christie's recent settlement with Exxon reduced their NJ environmental fine from $9 billion to $250 million, even though liability had been proven.

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/28/nyregi....html?_r=0

It's not just Christie. This is what Republicans do. They give big breaks to their friends the rich and large corporations, then raise things like sales taxes, drivers license fees, tolls, and find other ways to stiff the common man and make up the difference. The GOP is one big con game, and they've literally put the world's biggest con man at the top of their ticket.

I cannot wait for Trump to negotiate these kinds of deals on America's behalf. It will be tremendous. That I can tell you.

lol at the ignorance. Not saying what you wrote is incorrect but to think it's just Repubs is laughable at best and asinine at worst. It's yet another reason why so many people as so fed up with DC.

What's scary is he might try. He said he might try to stiff holders of US debt which would be a disaster.

How much in taxes and penalties did Al Sharpton get out of?

How about Timothy Geithner?

I'm pretty sure people on both sides of the aisle, at all levels of politics, do special favors for their friends. The pay for elected positions is not that good, the opportunity to do these types of things is basically the only motivation for running that I can tell, it's certainly not about "public service" in most cases.

Not saying Dems are pure but it happens a lot more with the GOP because they're a lot closer to the Chamber.

Why don't you tell me? I know he owes taxes and there are tax liens on his property but has Andrew Cuomo or somebody actually cut his tax bill so massively for no apparent reason? Where's your evidence?

lol, neither do you. REREAD your own original post. Come on man, this isn't rocket science. Only partisan hacks think there party does no wrong and the other party is "so much worse". It's laughable. Step back and take a helicopter view of the whole situation and it become abundantl clear that once the partisan glasses come off that the majority in DC are in it for the personal benefits and "representing" you and I is just the cover operation. BTW, I can't stand Hillary or Trump.

Really? Your response that I was clueless was in response to me asking for evidence of your allegation that Rev Sharpton's taxes were unilaterally cut by a Dem executive office holder. Now are you going to produce that evidence or admit you lied (or, deflect again)?
