Its August 18th and the first game of the season is August 26th.

There is only one more week to put this crap to bed before the season starts.

Poop or get off the pot already.

I could see a scenario where this whole thing ends with the Big 12 squeezing a little more out of ESPN and FOX in exchange for staying at 10 teams.

Whether they realized it or not, this public bakeoff the presidents touched off among the various contenders is not healthy for anyone. Schools lobbying politicians and engaging in social media campaigns – all the while still competing in their current conferences – is creating tremendous pressure on all involved. If, in fact, this ends with the Big 12 presidents picking, say, BYU and Cincinnati, there will be incredible anger and bitterness from Houston, Memphis and the like. People may lose their jobs over it.

Here's an interesting question. What if the Big12 said fine ESPN and FOX-----we are adding members and you guys don't have to pay for it---but you also need to sign away all rights to those games. We're either going to use that package of games to populate a conference network or we will sell them on the open market. I wonder what the response would be from the networks? The new schools would be paid based upon the value that the package of games brings. There could potentially be some pretty big games there---including games that might have a bearing n the conference championship. My guess is FOX and ESPN wouldn't much like that.

Because the Big 12 argued for the language in order to ensure stability for its members should any more schools leave, and the league's media partners expected the conference to negotiate with them ethically and in good faith.

The Big 12's media partners never expected the league to be so sleazy as to willfully sabotage the value of its own product in a 'poison pill' shakedown of media partners and fellow academic institutions for quick cash.

Not to put too fine a point on it.

Dallas Metroplex - Yes
Austin - Yes
San Antonio - Yes
West Texas/Panhandle - Yes
Houston - Partial and slowly losing.

You don't understand how this works. As long as a Big 12 network can get on Houston Cable carriers, then they own Houston TV sets...regardless if anyone actually watches it or not. If they can get on Houston cable and charge carrier fees...then they carry Houston, regardless or not if Houston is in the Big 12.

Comcast the largest provider in Houston will not add the LHN in Houston. Why, I think most people know why.

Hey, guess what, everybody. I just heard from my cousin who works for my friend who has a sister in a suburb of Cincinnati that at least two schools from the American are feeling pretty confident this week about their chances of getting a P5 bid. Can you believe it? Yeah, no one could have predicted that. But it's true, I'm telling you.

No, I can't name the schools or even promise for sure that they will get a bid. I can't even tell you for sure how many there are. But I can add a few concrete details so you can more easily imagine my story in your head and see how absolutely connected I am.

On Monday lawyers from these schools consulted with other lawyers about buyouts. On Tuesday ADs from these schools flew to Stillwater for secret meetings with Big 12 ADs. On Wednesday the schools' presidents were overheard having a shouting match with Aresco in his office. Today these schools supplied their female athletes with AK-47s for use on Baylor trips.

Sorry I can't share more names... but hey, those are realistic details, aren't they? Yep, it's all happening. Done deal. Take it to the bank. Any denials you hear are a smokescreen.

Just remember that situations like this are always fluid.

I’m just curious because I have seen that impression about this guy out there from a number of people, that he is the only one that’s been right so far, what exactly has he been right about? What has he ever tweeted that has been confirmed to be correct by actual facts provided by the Big12?

Before you say he was the one who argued expansion was still alive when everyone else (including Bowlsby) said it was dead, you can argue that this became true more as a byproduct of the announcement of the ACC network then him having any inside information.

Even with that what news has this guy broke that has proven to be factual?

Although you do seem like a man in the know with well placed sources, I'm a little skeptical of your info.
Cheers!

So what is an "annalist"? Is it the same as an "analyst"?
