If you were alive or old enough to remember?

Driving south on what is now Germantown Parkway, but back then was a two lane road. About to cross the RR tracks.

I was 12 playing in a baseball tournament in Alabama. Somewhere close to Birmingham I think.

Sitting in the floor of our den playing (I was 3). They reported it on TV & my mom started crying.

Home. Red was no longer working for Elvis but I had kept hoping to go back to Graceland again. That day I came to the reality that it would never happen. Free pinball in the racquetball house was as valuable to me as being there.

On the floor of our den. I am pretty sure it was during an episode of the Brady Bunch.

Wasn't really old enough to realize what a big deal it was.

RE: Where were you when you heard Elvis died?
I was watching The Guiding Light, my fave soap opera.
I was mad that they interrupted the show.
My mom was working nights, and none of us wanted to go wake her up and tell her.
One of us finally did, remember we we about 12- 16 years old.
We knew how important he was; my mom had every album he made. (Boy, I wish I had those now)
She cried like the world was ending, I have never to this day, have ever seen her cry like that again.

RE: Where were you when you heard Elvis died?
Ironically, I was driving down Madison after working downtown and I was just outside Baptist Hospital when the news came on the radio that Elvis had been brought into the hospital. I was halfway tempted to go in the hospital and see what was happening, but I just kept on going. In my gut, I knew it was serious. I guess I heard he died when I got home.

Driving my 68 work van west on hwy 179 (before it was hwy 179) between jobs. Heard it on a 8 track/FM combo mounted upside down tuned to FM100.

Never dreamed the allure would continue as long as it has. Not the music , but the whole going to Graceland pilgrimage deal.

They were firing up the Lisa Marie about the time you were driving by there.

RE: Where were you when you heard Elvis died?
I was delivering a new 1977 Corvette to my customer. When I arrived at the customer's house they had also just heard and were in shock. I think most everyone at the time was in disbelief. I remember seeing women in cars crying at pretty much every stop light on the way. Like his music or not he had a remarkable voice.
