Start the season off by encouraging casual fans to experience the excitement of Tiger football, even though it's vs a division II school. A large percentage will have a great time and come back for more games...brilliant.

I agree. It isn't an opponent that excites anyone so you entice people to come and experience the game day atmosphere and hope they come back for other games. Build up the fan base following. Who wants to pay full price for an FCS game anyways? It is the equivalent of a preseason NFL game.

It's not some brilliant new marketing idea. A lot of people have done this in the past. It's just about getting butts in the seats so the stands are not empty.

Make no mistake, if they could sell out the Liberty Bowl at $60 a pop for this game they would and not think twice about it.

Affordability is important to the B12.

If your point is what I think it is, don't worry. We don't have a problem with ticket sales for P5 competition.

Ok so you're that guy. Congrats you had bunch of people show up to your games, perhaps you can make a banner for it and hang it up in your rented stadium.

Rented stadium smack has always and will always be weak.

Been doing it for 30 years for games against d1-aa schools. Maybe one day corporations will care enough about central fla.to do the same.

We usually have near a sellout for our 1st game even for non d-1 teams. We don't need to sell tickets for $.50 and a free cup of coffee. What ever works for you though. I'd rather see full stadiums even if you're bringing the Memphis homeless to watch.

Our stadium holds 20,000 more than yours. If we had a 40,000 seat stadium, it would be sold out every single game at real game prices. Something you all can never manage to do

If I could get to Memphis that night, I would be there. Congrats to Memphis for doing what needs to be done to build their program.

Those here with the negative comments are clueless.

This.

So far, what I've seen in this thread is established and respected programs' fans being fans of the promotion, while everyone else griping and hating on it. Speaks volumes

It would actually be more cost effective for Memphis to give the tickets away instead of having to staff ticket booths to collect a whole .....FIVE DOLLARS. Woot!

...then again with that said, it's not a crazy idea as if they do sell out it makes for some nice stadium shots. Of course it could backfire if they don't sell out and they can't give tix away.

A) These tickets won't be sold at ticket booths. They're sold at Kroger

B) There will be over 40,000 tickets sold at REGULAR price. Not counting the $5 tickets.

C) Does a good crowd shot of a USF football game even exist?

We had higher attendance average if you look 2007 forward. We had a crowd over 50k for Tulsa fyi back in the Citrus bowl.
