NASCAR sponsor
Anyone know if we have any plans for having a JMU Sprint Cup car at Richmond this year?
Virginia Tech signed on as lead sponsor w/ the Wood Brothers for this weeks' race at Bristol and the October race at Martinsville. Car was unveiled today. It will hurt a little to root for Ryan Blaney this week driving a maroon & orange car.

In the Truck Series William Byron, driving the Liberty Univ Toyota for Kyle Busch Motorsports, broke his boss's record for wins in a season by a rookie, which Kyle set in 2000 with 4. Byron has 5 through the 1st 12 races.

He's only 18. Just graduated HS and taking online classes at LU..Grew up in Charlotte, the hot bed of NASCAR. Just looked up his bio.
-U.S. Legend Car Young Lion Division National Champion in 2013
-NASCAR Whelen All-American Series (NWAAS) NC Rookie of the Year in 2014
-NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Champion in 2015.

Probably gonna win Trucks this year. I imagine he could be running Xfinity next year & Cup in 2-3 years at the rate he's going..

Funny that the number on that car is our score from that fateful game!

And sure enough this past week he signs with Junior Motorsports to run Xfinity next year. Which means good chance he will be racing in cup for Hendrick in the next 2-3 years, either as the replacement for Earnhardt or Jimmie Johnson if one of them retires, or if Kasey Kahne gets the boot.

Someone needs to tell his crew chief they got the wrong number for their car and it needs to be changed to 16 stat.

Ironically the Wood Brothers (#21) are partnered with Roush Fenway, and 1 of Roush's 3 Cup car #s is the 16 of Greg Biffle...

BDK, they ended the alliance w/ Roush after the 2014 season when RFR brought in Trevor Bayne to replace Kenseth. Bayne had always been "on loan" to the Woods. Now the Wood Boys are aligned w/ Penske(since 2015 season) and are using Penskes' developmental driver, Ryan Blaney.

I was hoping to get a shot of Blaney running side by side w/ Biffle during the race but I never could.

Damn brain cramp/flash back on my part 03-banghead- yeah they talked a lot early in the season about the Penske/Wood Brothers alliance.

It's Roush/Front Row Motorsports for the other Ford alliance.

And Stewart Haas moving to Fords next year using Roush-Yates engines.

OK now I think I have the Ford alliances straight..

Back to your original question. Last year's media announcements about BK racing running the #83 JMU car were in the Wa Po and RTD on 8/19 for the race on 9/12. I went to BK Racing's site and didn't see anything about a sponsor announced for the race at RIR yet on Sat night, 9/10. They didn't announce the sponsor for next Sunday's Michigan race until last week. Don't see anything for after that.

A double digit # of primary sponsors for the #83 through the 1st 2 doz races through Michigan.
http://www.jayski.com/news/schemes/2016/...am-Schemes
Some for a few races, many just 1. Seems like a lot of races their #83 sponsors are just announced a week or 2 ahead of time.
http://bkracingteam.com/news/

They did have Sewanee on the car for the Atlanta race.

The earliest press announcements for that I see are on 2/24, and that race was on 2/28. So hopefully in the next week or 2 we'll hear its the JMU for the RIR race..
