Fascinating read Pat - thanks for sharing. While reading the ESPN article by Seth Wickersham, I kept seeing a future movie akin to Money Ball. Here's hoping we'll see more of Brian Decker.

Very interesting read. The other side of the question is what would it take to draft the talented athlete who is at risk, and create a structure for their lives allowing them the best chance to succeed as a person. The current choices here seem to be to draft a train wrecked life athlete who doesn't get the help they need, or don't draft that athlete and they still don't get the help they need. The athlete/person loses each time. Maybe the NFL loses less money. Who cares. I guess that depends on your perspective.
