As much as I would like to see it happen it is a long shot at best. Good be a great combination with BYU but again don't see it happening.

Different AD, different action regarding Big 12.
The Big 12 did reach out to them before. Maybe now that AF is reaching out that will make the difference.

Makes no sense other than being the next logical step of turning the service's academies from their mission to another place where CFB hopefuls can go and tryout for the NFL. If they want to learn Army's lesson in detail, more power to them.

Could be there is now reason for the AAC to reach out to Air Force. With the right combination of partners, they might be interested (especially if Army can be part of the package).

RE: Article on Air Force & B12
Air Force should really only consider the American if the Big 12 takes Colorado State. With BYU and Colorado State having left the Mountain West, is it really worth holding on to New Mexico and Wyoming?

AAC West - Air Force, Navy, SMU, Houston/Rice, Tulane, Tulsa
AAC East - UCF, USF, East Carolina, Memphis, Temple, UConn

Air Force can then use their non-conference football schedule to play Army, a team in California, and then two more western programs. Playing in the American takes the place of playing non-conference games against schools in the southeast like Georgia State and Wake Forest.

Even an all-sports membership in the American works for Air Force, as their men's soccer and swiming and diving programs currently competes in the WAC. Memphis and Houston/Rice are closer to Colorado Springs than San Diego State.

Wait, Colorado Springs is closer to Memphis then it is San Diego? I don't think so.

Well, if Air Force is actually engaging the conference, we have one of the new members. No doubt they're straight to the top.

This is why the Big XII put it out there to the public. It gets schools like this, who don't operate in the same style as others, to participate. Most of those others we know/have known about...no surprise. If this actually got AFA to come forward, I'd hate to be the rest of the field.

Just looked it up. TRUE, Memphis is closer by about 100 miles. Try not to "think" so much the next time. 04-chairshot

Big 12 > AAC

Lol. Absolutely. My point is the guy before said no to both. With a new sheriff in town, it can't hurt to ask.

Damn! You told me! 100 miles is 100 miles.
Air Force and Memphis make sense to me....No. I "think" Air Force and San Diego St have a certain cultural connection that AF and Memphis don't have. The air shows at the AF/SDSU football games are sometimes the only reason fans show up. Then there's the 35 games AF and SDSU have played. Air Force and Memphis have played exactly ZERO times. There's that too.
Cheers!

RE: Article on Air Force & B12
Big 12 should take BYU, Cincinnati, Air Force, and Navy (football only).

That adds:

- national brands
- two-thirds of the Commander-In-Chief games each year
- Notre Dame-Navy game every other year
- BYU-Utah rivalry game every other year
- two programs close to WVU that are right on the B1G-SEC border and middle of the ACC
- two programs in the PAC's newest territory
- contiguous territory: CO touches OK and KS; UT touches CO; OH and MD touch WV
- three Big 12 options for Eastern kickoffs
- two Big 12 options for West Coast kickoffs

This expansion helps the networks to justify the additional payouts because:

- name brands create better ratings, ie, Baylor-Navy better than Baylor-Memphis
- solid OOC inventory (Commander-In-Chief games, ND-Navy, BYU-Utah and other PAC schools)
- extends the Big 12 viewing options into both the East and West
