Scrimmage in Jackson
The scrimmage in Jackson was awesome! The football team looked really good and the staff looked great. I am so glad that they came here to Jackson so we could see them. The stands were full of Tiger fans.

Scrimmage in Jackson
I was very pleasantly surprised at the number of Tiger fans in attendance. Many were in Tiger gear. I saw one strange soul in a UT shirt, and one Miss. State tee. The home stands were maybe 75 %full and we even had fans sitting on the visitor side.

Great day! We we impressed with all of it. Great crowd, great football, great food. Enjoyed hearing Coach Norvell speak afterwards. Loved the chance to watch the Tigers here in Jackson.

How did Ferguson look ? Making good decisions ,on time and on target ?

Nice to hear about football on this board instead of the B12 nonsense. Does the defense look improved?

Ferguson was not that sharp today in my opinion.

Henderson, however, was the REAL DEAL! He broke off 2 60 plus yard runs after catching short passes. Slade was pretty impressive after catching passes too - very quick and elusive.

Defensive line consistently whipped the O-line. I believe the entire defense will be improved.

Bottom line - this bunch looks like a football team when they step off the bus.

RE: Scrimmage in Jackson
My quick tboughts:

- OL is a work in progress.
- David Moore is going to be awesome
- The new signing Wilson was unblockable; he's going to play this year.
- Defense in general is vastly improved; DB's (Moulet! ) nearly unrecognizable from last year.
- So many good looking players in this freshman class. Several will play this year.

Coach Novell made it clear afterwards that this was only the 10th practice and thankfully there are a lot more practices before the first kickoff.

The qb's look good at times and then they looked average at other times.

I understand your feeling. It just seems that no one wants to participate in posting and they all want to lurk... We need more participation...

There were some high school players and families in attendance. They may not have come as Tiger fans, but I hope they left as new Tiger fans.

Scrimmage in Jackson
New running backs Darrell Henderson and Patrick Taylor both looked good today. I wonder if Henderson could be the new DeAngelo. It's awfully early to say that, but Henderson looks pretty special. Let's revisit that in a few years.

Taylor is looking good for a guy who just reported this summer. I don't think that we will miss the two RB's who left (Cooper & Henderson).

Saw some good throws from the QB's at times, but the DL was in their faces a lot, and coverage was pretty tight by the DB's.

People always want to know how our team looked. You can't tell a lot from a scrimmage against your own team. I always tell folks that I'll let you know how we are after we play 3 games.

RE: Scrimmage in Jackson
Ferguson didn't have a great day, but it is hard to fault him given that the defense was in the back field often when he was out there. The right side of the O line, in particular struggled.

But yeah, the RBs had a good day and Slade and Oglesby were both impressive.

Couldn't have been more pleased with the crowd. TCA opened up their concession stand during the scrimmage and I spoke with one of the guys I know on the way out. Said they were pleasantly surprised at the turnout.
